I understand the old management decided without letting the staff know to close and disappear we wait an announcement. A shame as it was very atmospheric and friendly

I looked on the internet prior to our visit and saw the sharing ploughman's with blue viney cheese, cheddar cheese, ham and crusty granary bread, which I quite fancied, however when it was served all we got was 2 pieces of cheddar cheese, an apple cut in half, a tomato cut in half and a bit of lettuce along with... Having looked on the internet we had an idea what was on offer, on the menu no plowmans asking yes they did do a sharing plowmas , we order on its arrival no bread had to ask "O" yes was the reply, along it came not a nice piece of crusty bread but a soft roll, apart from the bread... More

Very small, old, drafty pub. The food looks ok but a bit over priced. The manager is extremely miserable and not at all welcoming. Had the pleasure of meeting Jamie, stand in manager, whilst Mr Grumpy was on holiday. All I can say is being back Jamie. You were lovely and made our visit very enjoyable.

Found this place on my first evening in Christchurch (and it was also recommended by the staff at Travelodge).Unpretentious old-fashioned (and historic) pub largely serving traditional pub grub (which is what I was after). Seemed to have a good selection of ales but as I am not an ale drinker I'm not well placed to give an opinion. I had... More

Went there for a wake and the man I assume was the manager was terribly rude. Complained because I wanted to order a tea as he didn't have enough teapots ( not my responsibility - I was just trying to give him money!) and then told me to tell other people not to order any! Everyone bought drinks from the... More

After walking around Christchurch In the freezing cold trying to find somewhere dog friendly we came across this little pub which greeted us warmly and our little furry family member! Who was very impressed with the treats she was given. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere

Although we live locally, we don't often go to the George because of the high prices. However, we went to a party there last night and were pleased to see that it has rebranded itself as a 'Real Pub - looking after locals' (although I suspect this will only be for the winter months!) with beers, cider and wine at... Just needed to say that the food here is lovely but the staffs attitude is the worse I think I've ever had. The young girl who served us was nice and I felt sorry for her, because it was embarrassing. We sat down and asked for menu's but was told that the kitchen was shut, what so early, yes it... More
