Great choice for Dogs!

Very glad to stumble across this establishment just past the castle ruins, Traditional features, good service and hearty food. A lovely cold stone floor for the dog to keep cool on a warm day. Even had a Dogs Chum dinner on the menu if needed.

It was certainly a good move that our table was booked well in advance as this pub/restaurant was packed.. Our table was on the cramped side, but then again it isn't overly big in the pub.. The menu was ok, nothing apexial. I ordered the fish and chips - the fish was lovely but the chips not so The service... More

They have a nice selection or real ales and great food! I had a chicken & fungi pie which was the best I've ever had. Our friends had the gammon which was also excellent! Will definitely visit again! 👌

We came here remembering the lovely menu, with plenty of fresh fish, how disappointed to find a menu based on supermarket pies! When I can buy a 'pie-minister' pie in the supermarket for £3, why would I want to pay £10 for the exact same pie in a pub?

Basic menu but the pies were a nice change from usual fair, quite a dark atmosphere with all the wood and only a few tables. This looks like a summer pub as there was a large courtyard with lots of sitting area and it seemed more like a locals pub as opposed to a good eating place. It was dog... More

We went in the pub for a drink, and the ale selection is quite good. The carvery was recommended so we decided to try it, we were not disappointed as it was very good, and would recommend!

We visited the pub on Easter Monday and wanted to eat but when we went in to the bar the manager ( I think) told us the kitchen had just closed. He then said if we could place our order quickly he would ask the chef if he would stay on and fulfil our order. The food was lovely and... More

If you are looking for a quiet night with a cosy drink this is not for you. Went on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing and packed with a mix of locals and visitors like myself. This is how I remember pubs used to be standing room only, loud conversations and tons of atmosphere. Food was good pub... More

Called in on a Thursday night but food service had finished at 9.30 but Dan & Sinead helped us find a restaurant that was still open. With such lovely helpful staff, we decided to go back on Saturday for dinner and wasn't disappointed. I had a pint of Piddle (yep that's what its called lol) which they brew themselves. Nice... Just took my 2 daughters out for an early dinner, and as Pizza Express across the rd was busy, ended up in this olde pub. Great traditional place. However the meal took forever to come, had to go up twice, once when we had been waiting 40mins for a starter sharing platter, which we reassured would be straight out- 10... More
