Called in here for last drinks before returning to our hotel. The late evening was warm and we were able to sit outside and relax. The inn is a really great place. It feels like you've been taken back to the 16th Century with the great atmosphere and the pubs interior. Had we have stayed in Christchurch itself, this would... More

after spending the week in Christchurch we spent our last full day looking around the shops, and walking by the river, then we had a lovely lunch at the George, with a glass of cider, meal was lovely, staff were very pleasant, and give us good service. A lovely last day for a lovely holiday.

Had dinner with some friends ordered the soup of the day which I was told was to be summer vegetable but turned out to be some kind of fish chowder. Med rare sirloin was to follow but the meat was tough and poor quality and very overcooked, a sentiment voiced by the others I was with. Creme brulee next should... More

Ambience of old Coaching Inn - very small and fairly cramped. Absolutely packed when we went, although time of service was pretty good. Had run out of one of the specials by 7.30pm which didn't think was very good. Had tried to be a little more adventurous with specials, which were quite reasonable. Food was hot, and came in good... Hade Whitebait and baguettes, frankly quite good. Slasher ale was cloudy and off so I asked to change to Becks. Barman had the cheek to ask for another 25p. Later on I saw more cloudy pints going past on other customers' trays, really the beer should have been taken off. One other tip... Buy a Karcher and jet the courtyard,... More

Attempted dinner here last night and wish we hadn't bothered. Wetherspoons standard cuisine at very inflated prices. Staff are friendly but unprofessional. The real ale (for which this venue is noted by CAMRA) was cloudy, flat and warm. Take your money and hopes for a good all round pub experience elsewhere!

Friendly, helpful staff and good selection of ales. The food was good and was also good value. The only downside was that there were only two other people in the pub and this made for a lack of atmosphere.

Went for Sunday lunch and was so disappointed. The standard was very poor.....vegetables over cooked and almost inedible Yorkshire pudding dreadful! Lovely setting in old converted barn (the pub has so much charm) shame about the standard of food. We are locals and will NOT be going back!

This has always been a good pub with brilliant selection of drinks however, the last month the pulled pints have had issues, flat lagers and cloudy ales. We go here weekly as a group but if they don't sort it out they'll lose our custom. We do take 'faulty' pints back and the staff are always apologetic and will change... More
