I stopped here on the way back to London. I used to live in Somerford as a child and there has always been a fish and chip shop on this site in my memory. Very pleased to see it again and my how it had changed. Chef and Maitre D here is well known local figure Dave, renowned for his... More

It is not often that 'Fish and chips' and fine dining come together. Brown's is an exception to this with friendly service, clean tables, an extensive menu catering for most diets (especially gluten free) and most importantly food that is to die for. Special mention goes out to the desserts which are simply mind blowing! 10/10 For Brown's Fish &... More

I've been going to Brown's for a few years now after finding out they did wheat free. The food has always been excellent and well presented, and the staff are always friendly.

We have eaten at Brown's several times now and the quality of fish and chips has been simply outstanding. They cater for every need and have been 100% reliable in catering for my daughter with coeliac disease. We can highly recommend Browns for all ages, tastes and especially gluten free.

Had both takeaway and dine in options, the food is always fresh and flavoursome, served by staff keen to please. The lunch time special has battered hake, chips, mushy peas, bread & butter and cups of tea for £4.95 a head! My father being coeliac, has a treat with gluten free battered fish at this remarkable price. There are fish... More

Visited with the family a couple of weeks ago after a day out at Peppa Pig world. We all wanted fish and chips for dinner so after seeing the good reviews on here decided on Browns. We ate in the restaurant and were very impressed. The food was delicious and very good quality, we were made to feel very welcome... More

Always quality fish...large cod is a LARGE cod! Batter is light and tasty never greasy. They cater for gluten free (I have tried this and it's excellent) and will also breadcrumb or steam your fish on request at no extra charge. There can be a queue but everything is freshly cooked and the staff work hard to serve everyone as... More

Sometimes it is busy with a queue out of the door but never venture away as the quality at Brown's is something to behold. Probably the best fish & chips in England, always popular and yet providing the best value for money. Eat in or take away, you will not be disappointed !

It's on a parade of shops off the main road but easy to find if you search for it beforehand. Well worth the visit, very fresh food, excellent service and lovely haddock! We took our take away down to a local beach only a couple of minutes away. This works well with a trip to Christchurch or Mudeford or Highcliffe.

Always excellent food and the best value for money I've ever come across for such beautiful food that is fresh and so tasty. I particularly like the skate as most of the fish is caught or sourced locally. Only downside is that the most recent member of staff is rather frosty and miserable so she doesn't make a friendly atmosphere... More
