My first gluten-free fish and chips! Crispy batter, generous piece of chunky cod and traditional chips. Although slightly off the beaten track if you don't want to eat in their restaurant it is close enough to drive to the beach and eat them on the sea front. No waiting time for gluten-free, other gluten free options also available.

Big portions, fresh fish. Lots of sauces and sides. Gets extremely busy on a Friday evening but they have lots of staff to serve. Very much deserves its high star rating!

Tried it because it had very good ratings on TA The size, quality and variety of batter etc sets it apart from the rest. Very busy but that's a good thing.

We went here as a group two kids and three adults. Having heard great reviews we plumped for the haddock and large cods, and mushy pea fritters. It was great the we could bring in drinks from next door. The waiter was very attentive. However the fish were quite dry once served. Hot plates in a 26 degree heat did... More

Our Italian student wanted to experience this country's famous fish and chips! We took her to Browns in Christchurch and Dave didn't disappoint. It was a truly magnificent meal (with pea fritter and mushy peas). The queue outside for take away intrigued her and proved how popular it was. The waiter was attentive and we were even treated to a... More

I have enjoyed Fish & Chips the length of the UK. This place is one of the best. Dave "mine host" is priceless and the young waiter will learn a lot from watching how he operates. I opted for the Skate cooked in batter which was superb. This was followed by Daves "hot and cold" sweet which filled us up... More

I stopped here on the way back to London. I used to live in Somerford as a child and there has always been a fish and chip shop on this site in my memory. Very pleased to see it again and my how it had changed. Chef and Maitre D here is well known local figure Dave, renowned for his... More

It is not often that 'Fish and chips' and fine dining come together. Brown's is an exception to this with friendly service, clean tables, an extensive menu catering for most diets (especially gluten free) and most importantly food that is to die for. Special mention goes out to the desserts which are simply mind blowing! 10/10 For Brown's Fish &... More

I've been going to Brown's for a few years now after finding out they did wheat free. The food has always been excellent and well presented, and the staff are always friendly.
