A hearty Sunday Roast, 3 courses, good value

Popular with families and friends alike; can be a little boistrous at times. However, attentive staff and good value food with plenty of hearty vegetables and crunchy Pork crackling served on warm plates.

Stayed in Christchurch for a few days, and decided to have an evening meal at The Galleon. Car park was virtually empty, a possible bad sign for 7pm ?. Found a table for two, and studied the menu, and asked for a bottle chardonnay, and a bottle of water. Wine arrived, no water. Ordered the meal, which arrived in good... More

We came for a spontainious Sunday lunch! We were not disappointed. There were 6 of us, 4 adults, 2 children plus 2 dogs (so nice to find somewhere dog & child friendly to eat!). We all had various things off the menu and it was all beautifully freshly made, hot and excellent value for money. The children were very impressed with... More

Visited for Sunday Lunch. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and fresh surroundings. We had 4 2- course Sunday lunches, plenty of choice on the menu. Food was fresh, hot and served with a smile. Will definitely recommend and visit again.

I guess, when you move to an area, you tend to have high expectations of what to find. Sometimes those expectations can be dashed. We bought our house because it had a pub at the end of our street (hurrah). Having been to the Galleon a few times now I can make a few valid points about the place in... More

Terrible service, waited for ages before being given a menu or offered a drink. Awful for vegetarians. Food absolutely tasteless, mass produced and over cooked. Chips were still frozen, bread stale, pasta cooked within an inch of its life and coffee that tasted like hot water. We went here for a 70th birthday party and it absolutely ruined it. The... More

Great value Sunday Lunch in this lovely gastro pub. There were nine of us, each with different requirements. All were looked after (vegetarian, nut allergy). Excellent service and food. Splendid walks nearby.

I wasn't keen on the place itself as it lacked any atmosphere. It's not a traditional pub inside, but neither has it been done out very imaginatively, so you're left feeling you're in some sort of diner. The food was OK, but a bit expensive for what it was
