Love this place but a few tweaks needed

We popped in without a reservation and they reset a table for us as we got drinks from the bar. Everyone was friendly and we loved the decor. The order was taken and we stupidly ordered a plate of olives and bread each...what were we thinking! It was lovely. The curried olives are great but so are... read more

Me, my Dad and my Step-mum waited over a hour just to get a table. in that time 2 other couples came in before use and got served within around 20 minutes. when we eventually got a table we got told the food waiting time would be around 30 minutes, when my Dad asked again the waitress was then very... Had a meal last night. Food was ok. But waitresses were not very pleasant and you could tell they wanted to go home. As soon as I put my glass down they took the glass and stood at end of the bar looking at us. Tapping there nails. There were other diners. Also when bill.came up they charged us 3... More

OK for OAPs at lunchtime two meals for £10, beware you get what you pay for, cheap does not imply good value. There is little atmosphere at lunchtime and the food is very basic pub fayre. If you don't eat the bargain lunch main meals are ludicrously expensive given the ageing décor, service and the lack of any evidence of... More

We have eaten at the galleon on numerous occasions over the years but it seems to have changed drastically, we went for lunch and decided to have the two for £10 meals as we are pensioners - three of us had Chilli and although it was dry the meat was good but could not detect any taste of chilli it... I liked the Hinton Oak and I loved the Galleon. I have been eating here when visiting my holiday home for some 18 years. The Galleon has been a favourite as can be seen from my previous reviews. Last week we eat for the first time in the new styled Plates and Co. It was late and we were tired.... More

We have had many enjoyable meals at The Galleon, but had not been back since Plates&Co took over the restaurant - until last Saturday. The menu looked as if it had quite a lot of choice, but when we studied it we realised it was rather uninteresting - 4 types of fish, 4 steaks, lamb, chicken, duck, but nothing that... More

Arrived at 6.30 having booked a table for 3. Told by a pleasant waitress we could choose any of the tables, which we did. Menus were brought quickly (but no drinks list). The wine list was soon found and delivered. Our drinks order was incorrect on delivery, and no mention made of the 'specials' menu board. We ordered our food... More
