My 20-something year old son and I found ourselves in Cheese and Alfies a couple of weekends ago. Everyone I had spoken to beforehand had always raved about the place, so I was keen to pay a visit. We were not disappointed. The place has a cozy, homely feel about it with games and toys for children, books for adults... More

We visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening and had a lovely meal. The menu had super choices but I opted for a main course of the specials board which was locally caught whole place which was delicious. My hubby ordered steak from the main menu which was also very nice. Staff were lovely and very attentive.

Nice little place.Food pretty good. We went as a family for breakfast. Whilst the food was good they seemed a tad iffy when kids wanted to add or take away from the standard offerings on the menu, to fine tune their choice. Theres always someone who doesn't like something and they were ordering off the adult menu. At £50 for... More

Good good, very americanised but you can always ask for English versions - ie Boston beans they do weren't my favourite so they gave normal beans instead. Had several breakfasts here. The granola yoghurt and fruit is lovely. The pan haggerty also delicious. Not had anything bad for breakfast actually. Keen to try the burgers - very good things said... More

This is a very difficult one to critique, the service was very good and friendly, the food itself was good except my steak which was a little tough. The starter platter for the 4 of us to share was very tasty, the fish and chips was very small, the steaks small and flat with very little served with it, all... More

Popped in here on Sunday morning during our stay in Christchurch. Had the pan breakfast which was gorgeous. Really gorgeous home made Boston baked beans, portobello mushrooms, sausages and bacon all delicious. While we were there we spotted someone eating the pancakes and decided on a whim as there were a few of us to order them. OMG they were... More

Cheese and Alfies was recommended to us by a local as a good place to have dinner with our very young grandchildren. We were offered a big table upstairs which turned out to be perfect as there were toys and books available to keep the youngsters happy while the food was prepared. We happened to visit on "burger night" with... More

Had brekkie here and it was great, lovely sausages and bacon with tasty homemade beans and all the rest. Best of all though were the amazing pancakes with maple syrup, my god they were good! Fluffy, light and huge portion, wish I lived closer as I'd be in here all the time.

Weather all day breakfast to burgers or even light snacks, the food is fresh and tasty and full of flavour. In quite a small space they create a good atmosphere at cheese and alphies. With food and atmosphere together it is perfect for coffee or lunch.
