Quirky but average

I have been to Cheese & Alfies 3 times now because each time I think I must be missing the special something that other reviewers are seeing. But now, I can say that I honestly don't understand the great reviews that this place gets. The food is OK but nothing special. It almost feels that it is... read more

We had a fabulous lunch here on Wednesday. It's the first time we'd been, and although it's very contemporary and quirky, the service is reassuringly old-fashioned; effecient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and staff had a smile on their faces. I had the fish finger sandwich and fries. It was immense! And my partner had a salad and... More

Very relaxed friendly atmosphere, bright modern décor, delicious food options, makes a refreshing change from the usual menus offered in other establishments. Love the berry smoothies!

I just came back from Valentine's weekend break with my husband in Bournemouth. My husband found this "Cheese & Alfies" in Christchurch by chance and we had a lovely dinner there. Welcoming atmosphere and lovely staffs, we enjoyed our dinner so we went back there for our Valentine's dinner!! We were staying in Bournemouth town centre and there were lots... More

Met here with others for an early supper, and always enjoy it. Great atmosphere and always friendly staff. We come here for breakfast lunch and evenings, and can always rely on a good meal.

What an amazing breakfast - it's well worth a trip for brunch! I had the small pan, the Boston Beans were amazing, with chunks of ham in and the bacon was great quality. Great food set in a funky atmosphere. I am looking forward to going back for dinner. A great independant resturant/cafe!

I took my mum out to eat here on a Friday night. From booking right through to getting the bill we received excellent customer service from super friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and the meals were reasonably priced (even more so as we had a tastecard and took advantage of their 2 for 1 offer!) I had the steak... More

The decor and furnishings bring a quirky image to this lovely eaterie. Old school chairs stocked with books for you to read or swop and take home along with brightly coloured teapots and glorious homemade cakes are just a few of the features that create the warm atmosphere. Food is always tasty and well presented and all the staff are... More

Disappointed with breakfast eggs, hardly any hollandaise sauce, no seeds, price has gone up, luke warm, staff to busy to check if food ok, sat right by counter, so noisy, can't relax, staff buzzing around in a rush, cost over £21 for two breakfast, and only one toilet, broken toilet seat, needs decorating and updating!! Never worth the money, rather... More

We have been to cheese and alfies on many occasions and always had a nice meal. Today was busy and the food was disappointing. warm not hot, not enough hollandaise on eggs, plus staff didn't return to the table to see if the food was ok. Disappointing as prices have gone up as well £20 for breakfast and tea and... More
