Only a little gripe but lovely food

Came to the ship today as we've heard on the local grapevine that the food is some of the best in Christchurch, well we weren't disappointed, my husband ordered the scallops that were cooked beautifully and came with a Tuscan style panzanella salad which I thought complimented them very well, good... read more

Seriously impressed by the quality of the food and the first class service. We dropped by on a Saturday evening with no booking and, unsurprisingly there were no free tables in the restaurant area. Without hesitation we were allowed to choose a table from the rest of the pub area (frankly, even nicer!) and were served there. Feasting on a... More

If you rearrange the letters of The Ship Inn you can make the word 'pretentious'. Well not really but I think you can get where I'm going with this review.

Great little pub in the middle of High Street. Great atmosphere and the food is magnificent. Has indoor and outdoor seating areas and a must see if in Christchurch

Short break visitors, we were after Fish and Chips. The fish was very good, flaky and fresh and cooked to perfection. Wine chilled and nice. The dessert could have been presented at "Masterchef"! White chocolate, macerated strawberries, meringue, black pepper! It's a dessert to travel far for. (We regret that it's not allowed to lick the plate in public).

Smart pub in the main street with a Greek themed menu. Can recommend the mere platter to share & the sea bass & swordfish special both very good. Nice surroundings & pleasant atmosphere with good service. Well worth a try.

Went there for a quick meal before going over to the Regent Centre, and it worked out well as did not have to wait long for the food. Able to eat in the garden as lovely weather (fortunately not many smokers out there!). Food might seem a bit pricey, but all our party were pleased with what we had -... More

Sunny day yesterday so decided to visit the Ship for lunch in the garden, beer great, service good too, but food completely underwhelming and expensive for what you get. The three of us ordered fish finger baguette, three or four cheap fish fingers with a bit of salad and dressing on a toasted half baguette, Croque Monsieur, well it was... More
