needed an evening meal

Having had a busy day we asked at our B and B where we should eat and we were sent into the town and decided to go for The Ship . The welcome was warm, the tables well spaced and the food excellent

We stopped here for a bite to eat, even though it was quite expensive we decided to sample the food. To be honest the food was average at best!

My husband and I dined here, looking for informal pub food and it was a really good experience. The restaurant is well laid out with nicely dressed tables and plenty of room. We received a warm welcome and our drinks were served to our table and food order taken. It was very busy, but the service was really good and... More

Visited this pub for a lunch, decided to opt for a sandwich, as it was expensive for a sandwich I expected it to be a really good lunch, in reality it was rather small and disappointing, it only tasted of a mayonnaise with far too much vinegar in! I left still hungry with a bad taste in my mouth.

We had a very nice pre-theatre meal here recently, food served from 6pm. The pub wasn't too busy but several people were doing the same. The service was prompt, the drinks good, and the food was very tasty! The menu is quite varied and the chef obviously takes pride in his presentation!!

we found the Ship overpriced for the meals we had and the 7 who ate here all thought the same. Flavours we ok but not value for money. Wouldn't go back at these prices and potion sizes.

We booked a table for 4 on Saturday night at The Ship. The restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived (word must be getting around) but we received our usual friendly greeting and service was pretty quick considering. The food as always was superb. If anything it was even better than we had experienced previously. Really top drawer. The swordfish... More

We visited on a Thursday night. It appeared quite busy but we easily found a table. There was a varied menu on offer with a specials board. The food was reasonably priced. Our food arrived at the table very quickly. It was very hot and well presented. We had fish and chips, which was excellent, in terms of size and... More
