Much improved

I visited here with my parents for a light dinner midweek. I have used the restaurant here before but this was several years ago, and on this occasion we all left disappointed, so I chose not to return until now. Things seems to have drastically improved, we chose to eat in the bar due to our... read more

Stayed at the Captains Club for 3 nights in April on business. Lovely setting beside the river, rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Food is well cooked and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and could to do enough for you. Overall a lovely hotel. Cant wait to go back again.

We were in the area and just happened to walk past this wonderfully located building. The sun was shining so we sat outside with drinks to soak up the relaxing atmosphere. Staff highly professional giving first class service.

I had booked a table at the Captain's club for my husband's 40th birthday. This was our third dinner experience there but probably our last. We were given a good table by the bay windows as requested which was lovely but this was pretty much the only part of the service that made us feel special. Our waiter was borderline... More

Had a family meal on a Friday evening. Bar area was very busy - obviously a popular spot for a drink at the weekend. Good menu choice & service was very friendly but efficient. Food was well presented & tasty. There is a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the river which must be very pleasant on a summer evening .

Clearly a place to see and be seen in a Saturday night. Lots of trendy people and live music. Our table was ready on arrival. The menu was lovely but pricey for what was on offer especially as you have to pay for 'sides' or vegetables as we know them, separately. At ordering we were not asked whether we wanted... More

Came with my daughter, her treat for a belated Mother's Day celebration. Wanted somewhere a bit more memorable as she is not from this area. Couldn't really fault anything. Good for people watching!

Lovely Spring day, stopped by for an afternoon drink in the sunshine...barman seemed disinterested in taking our drinks order, finding filing receipts at the till more important than processing my card. Appeared disinterested in fulfilling our order, if one doesn't like serving the public, don't choose bartending as an occupation. Venue saved by the view from the terrace.

Came for Sunday lunch and had the set menu. A reasonable choice of dishes for all courses at a very reasonable at price. The a la carte menu is pricier but should be worth it. Staff attentive & friendly.

This time I was with my German girlfriend we had a very nice meal with our friends at Christmas time but after drinking a little bit to much bourbon whiskey I can't remember to much about the night but I did enjoy the food and drink
