A little more thought

A pleasant welcome and the two senior waiting staff were very good. The junior waitress was very bad. The dining experience overall was pleasant. The food was uninspiring with shared mains from the Boat House next door (I believe under the same ownership). My Turbot was cooked perfectly, however... read more

I know the difference between good and bad restaurants - and this place certainly gave my wife and I lots of negative thoughts! It's difficult to control my words at the moment - suffice to say after two courses my wife and I left without ordering any more courses. Then, for the first time ever, we went to another restaurant... More

We have eaten here previously without any problems so thought we would go back. The waitress announced she was new and couldn't speak much English. She had problems in understanding the order for drinks. I ordered the mussels, but sadly there was grit in almost every one. I went to pay and raise the issue but the waitress simply brushed... Great location and restaurant ambience is nice. Service was efficient and polite however, food was only average. Disappointing as the menu looked very promising. I have no idea why the chef wanted to blow our heads off with his very hot cocktail sauce!!! And there was no avocado in it either by the way. So overpriced for the quality I'm... More

Upon entering we decided to sit down outside for the amazing harbour view.We were given our menus.I went to the toilet to see a picture of Tony Blair had visited the restaurant. We were impressed if it was good enough for a prime minister it was good enough for us. The menu was al a carte and really beautiful cuisine. They did... More

Popped in here for some lunch and a drink with friends on tuesday. We had fish and chips, was fairly priced and very tastey. Service was very polite and the food was served quickly. Pleasantly suprised. Only thing i would ask is to serve the fish and chips with peas! However the menu did say simply fish & chips so... More

Visited for a birthday lunch with a group of four, we were one of the first sittings for lunch and found the food to be of poor quality and overpriced. My partner and I had the crab salads which were priced at £16 and it was a very small crab with mainly brown meat on a small bunch of dry... More

The main problem with this restaurant is the staff. I've lived in Fowey for many years and will never spend another penny in there. The food is poor quality, overpriced and the grubby looking staff are more interested in smoking out of the back door (onto Fowey harbour) I felt intimidated by them. The restaurant is gaining a very poor... More

Third visit and still delighted with the standard and freshness of the food. The service is friendly and prompt as well. A good value, if not cheap, lunch. Great position on the quayside too. (Only concern - why are the loos in semi-darkness with 40w bulbs? Clean and well appointed but dark. Odd.)

Great food, with lots of variety, and very friendly service. Can't beat the location; right on the seafront!
