Good fish dishes spoiled by microwaved vegetables; I wouldn't ave minded waiting to have everything freshly cooked. Friendly owner and staff, good refuelling stop and not expensive. Better places in Fowey though

Called in at lunchtime a couple of years ago seeing homemade soup advertised on the board outside but once we went in and sat down we realised the place was quite grubby and quite cluttered with a trolley full of paperwork and telephone directories etc at the side of counter. The soup was edible but not very appetising. Noticed last... More

Not many places serving food at 5pm which was why we originally chose this place. We both had calamari - fresh and perfectly cooked, followed by John Dory and mussels - all excellent, although presentation was a bit hit and miss. Staff were friendly and polite and while the surrounding were a bit old fashioned we wouldn' t hesitate to... More

I say what I find. We found the commodore in the midst of Fowey which for a lovely old fishing port is filled with "traditional" Cornish "bistros" and "tapas" bars. We were warmly welcomed and served fantastic Monk fish and gorgeous Fillet steak with a bottle of Barefoot white and garlic bread for under thirty quid. So what there were... More

We arrived at such an awkward time that for a very late lunch, we were just glad to find somewhere to serve us. We were attracted by the cute interior and their specials boards of fresh fish. We had whitebait and scallops to start. Whitebait were covered in batter and fried, although not freshly caught they were tasty enough with... More

This was a little gem: we went in because the chalkboard of freshly cooked fish caught the eye in passing but the wine list had some amazing bargains. Just sad it wasn't busier, it deserves to be.

Right by the Fowey River this restaurant serves good, fresh reasonably priced fish dishes. Family run for 24 years it is always consistent in quality and service. The moules and skate are second to none!

I am embarrassed to say I actually ate here! The food was ordinary and of poor quality, flattened crab cakes served with limp lettuce and a rather browning slice of lemon. The head waiter looked badly turned out in below knee baggy shorts and shirt ...Later, after I had put on my glasses I noticed his shirt was covered in... More

we eat here on a Sunday afternoon whilst visiting Fowey by boat from Mevagissey, great specials board (that's what made us choose the place). Clamari was lovely so was the Mussels, husband had the Milgrim Sole again lovely, service well what can I say (different) eat here and you'll know what I mean.

Whatever you do ~ don't go here as you will be ill for the rest of your holiday. Food is a health hazard and something I shall raise with environmental health. Service is rude and they argued and were aggressive when we suggested the ammonia like smell from the pasta indicated it wasn't freshly cooked. This place should be closed... More
