Best cream tea in Fowey

I love this place: an historic building with small and intimate rooms, and a proper teatime experience. The cream teas are wonderful, excellent choice of teas, including local Cornish Tregothnan, and lovely cakes. Try the cream tea with the gooseberry jam ...

I have walked passed this Tea Room for many years and not ever thought about going in (what missed opportunities ) I won a voucher for cream tea for two in the Regatta Prize Draw and now had reason to visit. It was a busy afternoon and we sat in the small cottage garden - another unknown bonus. A large... More

A perfect English tea shop. Everything was first class, service, menu, food, quality teas. The smell of baking greets you on entering the cafe, as they bake throughout the day to keep up with the demand for their lovely cakes and scones. The baker has a very light touch. Great atmosphere inside and has secluded little garden tables too. In... More

I've been here twice now, for lunch and tea and both times we were really happy with the service and the food and tea. The afternoon tea was delicious - lovely cakes and scones and delicious range of teas. More recently we came in and had the best crab sandwich I have ever eaten - they use the brown crab... More

The Dwelling House is well worth a visit and quirky in nature. The food was excellent as was the service. A cream tea is a must in Cornwall and the Dwelling House certainly offers one of the best. My only criticism would be the lack of space, but the food and charm of the house more than made up for... More

We popped in for a cream tea and experienced one of the best teas we have ever had. The quality was stunning and the staff friendly and very helpful. If you do not have a sweet tooth try the crumpet tea, it is a refreshing alternative. The locally made apple chutney is mouthwatering and can be bought in the shop... More

Normally I like to try lots of different places when I'm away, but loved this place so much we went three times on a day trip to Fowey. Popped in for a cuppa, straight off the ferry. Opted for the Tregothnan Cornish tea. Delicious. Staff really friendly. Lovely little rooms and an armchair in the toilet! Spotted on the specials... More

A must if you're in fowey. Really nice friendly service and a lovely setting, like sitting in an old fashioned sitting room. Lots of Tea choice, Cornish afternoon tea was lovely. Had a cheese scone warmed in the aga which is one of the nicest scones I've ever had! Cream tea and cakes were also delish.

Do not visit Fowey without having a cream tea here - they do a classic sweet one - choose your scones and one of four types of jam - strawberry, raspberry, gooseberry or damson - and a savoury one, with cheese scones, cheese and relish. Both delicious. And do customise these with your own types of tea - there were... More
