Visited with wife and kids. Food was very average...and loads of it! Way too much on the plate, would be better if they reduced the portion size and priced accordingly, although it is not that pricey. I had steak and prawn Caesar salad....which was actually just a garden salad with Caesar sauce! No cos lettuce, anchovies, croutons and Parmesan! All... More

Bowes incline is located slightly off the beaten track, I've been here time and time again and food has always been average pub grub, but service has always been great. Attentive staff do make a great deal of difference. The menu is so extensive from a business point of view I don't know how they do it! The only problem... More

I have been here a few times for food and have never been disappointed. Great portion sizes and the quality is spot on. It serves the best Sunday dinner, much better than any carvery can offer.

A warm and inviting pub off the beaten track but worth finding as it is parallel to the A1 . The food is good quality and good size portions. Home made chips. Good selection of beers and wine. Atmosphere lovely oldie worldly feel.

After a day out decided to call in and have Sunday lunch. Wasn't disappointed. The food was hot and well presented. The lamb melt in the mouth. Portion size was very generous even for the most healthy appetite. The selection of meals available was immense. Staff very helpful and attentive. No complaints from our party. Prices very reasonable and competitive... More

The Bowes incline seems to lack an understanding of the basics, tables should be clean and not sticky. That said the bar was in a similar state, usually the food is very good but today not so. The Thai fish cakes were soft and lacking in taste, the rest of the food was pub average but at the prices they... More

We were staying in the hotel and decided to eat there in the evening too. It was very nice food, bit pricey but fresh and hot. The menu was on a blackboard which was a downside but a wide choice of food.

Having spent 6 days walking the wall we decided to book an extra night to chillax. First visit for us.very comfortable room at a good price. Food was good but one of our company had a microwave heated moussaca which was not hot in the middle. Sunday morning breakfast service was slow and by far the poorest of the week.(we... More
