Lovely Sunday lunch

Don't need to book on a Sunday, just turn up and get a table within 10-15 min, staff very efficient and pleasant.

I must have passed this place 100 times. But this time we called in. Not the easiest of place to get to, down the bottom of a windy country road, But well worth it. We went on a Sunday night. The place was quite busy & the service was great. They had a really large menu & the food quality... More

Went there for mothers day Sunday lunch and not surprisingly it was packed and the lady said it would be about a hours wait, there were 8 of us so we said ok. In about a hour the table was ready, most of us went for the Lamb but there was an extensive menu to choose from if so desired.... More

Visited last Sunday with my husband and son. We all ordered the Sunday lunch. It arrived extremely quickly (I only just got back from ordering when it arrived at the table). I got 3 large slices of beef, cabbage, carrots, mash, roasties, peas and a huge yorkshire pudding. They also brought an extra jug of gravy. All the veg was... More

My brother and I stayed here for two nights last week. The accommodation was very good (with an excellent shower). It is right beside the A1M (and we were on that side of the building), but you would never have known. The food was excellent, and the staff very friendly and helpful - and at such reasonable prices! This was... More

I went with a friend on Sunday for the first time and was not disappointed. It was busy - as you'd expect for a Sunday lunchtime - and we waited about 10 mins for a table. During this time the waitress took our name and we just sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink. The menus are written on... More

Not the usual run of the mill pub food. Extensive menu with a good array of starters and mains. Service very good and food was of a good quality. First time there for food and will definately be going again

Been several times now but 4 of us popped in again Tuesday for lunch. We chose food from the light bite menu although it was anything but light. Love the pasta dishes and 3 of us had the Arrabbiatta but ordered side dishes of chips too which were lovely.Really hard to finish such a big meal. Son had chicken and mushroom... More

We fancied a trip out in Sunday for lunch and had tried the bowes before on a Sunday but always seemed to get there at peak times and had to go somewhere else. However we were spot on this Sunday and secured a lovely table next to the window and radiator. We ordered chicken with haggis for Robert Burns and... More

I have visited this hotel and used the restaurant on many occasion. The Bowes Incline is an unpretentious place offering first class restaurant food. On this last visit we had the salmon encroute and the seafood linguine accompanied with good value beer and lager as well as wine. It is a tad awkward to find if you are a stranger... More
