We really enjoy Indian meals and there are some excellent restaurants in Newcastle. We hadn't tried Raval because the menu is quite different from others we have visited. However - be prepared to be impressed. This is south Indian cuisine and it is fabulous. Mini poppadoms with unusual accompaniments sent the taste but going straight away. We had a shared... More

This place just oozes class . I love it . It costs a little bit more than your normal curry house but the reason for that is it isn't a normal curry house . The food is sublime you must try it

Booked Raval as we all love Indian cuisine and as it was a special occasion didn't mind paying a bit extra........a lot extra actually but the food was excellent and a lot different from your normal run of the mill Indian restaurants. Not the easiest place to find though - had to ask twice for directions

Having looked at the high price after booking I was tempted to cancel as we were only after a quick last minute meal. It's fair to say, Raval is an expensive restaurant, and for an Indian restaurant, very expensive. BUT, it offers stunning food, great service and a nice enough setting. The salmon was lovely and fresh, and the lamb... More

Raval is an innovative Indian restaurant, with a stunning view across the Tyne Bridge, and a delightful ambience, charming staff, and an imaginative menu. The food is delightful, subtle, delicious, beautifully presented- a true sensual experience! It is not the cheapest, so is a venue for special occasions rather than an everyday. who could want more!

Situated on the south side of the river , it's a pleasant stroll across the Swing Bridge, albeit up a steep hill. Hadn't booked but tables available in the bar, where we had very good poppadoms. Quality of the food overall , ingredients and cooking is up there with top class Indian restaurants. A lot of fish dishes. Prices are... More

Ravel has recently changed some items on its menu - still well presented dishes with plenty of flavour. Really good choice if you are visiting The Sage for a concert as there is a special early bird menu too at a reasonable price, with sharing platters available.

We eat at this restaurant very often, usually when we have been to a concert at the Sage nearby. The food is always delicious (we've been put off eating Indian food anywhere else!) and the service friendly and efficient. Last night (a Saturday) when we arrived at around 9.45 we found the restaurant full and the staff very busy. We were... More

The title says it all. We arrived on time for our reservation. The restaurent was quiet. We sat in the waiting area for 15 minutes before anyone took a drinks order and after 45 minutes I had to ask if someone was going to take the order, 20 minutes later the manager arrived to take the order. Some 30 minutes... More

Had a family meal here for four of us. Spectacular food with Curry Restaurant of the year trophy on the bar. Unusual styling for an Indian restaurant more like Italian designer. No Indian music and no smell of anything! A big glass partition sees straight into the kitchen - always a good sign! Sea food was especially nice and the... More
