Description: From Raval's sophisticated and award-winning restaurant overlooking the spectacular Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead cityscape, our team of world class chefs deliver the very best in contemporary Indian fusion food. Our tantalising cuisine, indisputable knowledge, charming staff, modern and inviting atmosphere and unrivalled location, next to the Hilton Hotel and Sage Gateshead, ensure that our guests keep coming back for more. We have a team of world class chefs delivering the very best in contemporary Indian fusion food right here in Newcastle upon Tyne. Indian food served in the UK is often anglicized and high fat, high calorie and unauthentic, Raval Restaurant seeks to move away from this by serving cuisine with real Indian spices and flavour.

The ambience is good. Went there with my colleagues, The food was OK, a mix of north/south dishes (dint have some authentic north Indian dishes, nor had some south ones, sort of a mix), overall an average place, especially considering the taste and value for money (expensive). The service was Ok as well. There are certainly better options in the... More

This restaurant has won many awards and it is not hard to see why. It is so different from the normal Indian restaurants. You can tell how classy it is from the moment you walk in. The staff are very friendly and attentive, as was the manager on the evening we visited. We had a Living Social voucher for the... More

This restaurant is just top class. I have recently dined here again and it's true to say it just never fails to deliver. Everything is perfect - the superb authentic food, the restaurant and bar environment, the excellent choice of fine wines. The menu offers a good, variable range of food and wine. You can make it very good fair... More

We booked this restaurant expecting good food particularly as they won the North East Curry Awards last year however we were bitterly disappointed with our two curry dishes and side dish which although flavoursome were swimming in oil. The popodum starter was good but all else very poor. Very disappointed particularly as the curry was pricey.

Upon arriving at the restaurant we were greeted by a very welcoming waitress. We were taken to the lounge area for drinks and popads (delicious). We were escorted to our seats in the dining area which was nicely lit with elegant music in the background. I ordered the chicken which was amazing and my partner ordered the lamb which fell... Some good reviews on Tripadvisor but from my experience I can't see why. Food was okay but I've had better on a Thursday night special Indian in Whitley Bay. We were a large party and the staff were insistent that we all go for the £34.95. 'Special Buffet', the majority wanted to go a'la carte which the staff eventually agreed... More

We visited our favourite Indian restaurant again the night before heading off on holiday. This is no ordinary Indian restaurant, the dishes are, IMHO, worthy of a Michelin star. The service was as good as always. If you are near Gateshead/Newcastle make sure and book a table!
