A group of us visited here on a day trip to the lakes & on a recomendation from a stranger we bumped into. The pub, which is tucked away in a little village, serves great food at reasonable prices by friendly & efficient staff. All 6 of us in the group chose a diferent meal & non of us could... More

Visited here on our trip to the lake district. This place was recommended to us by a member of staff at our resort complex. We did not book (which I would definitely advise on doing so in the future) and turned up at 12pm sharp as a family of 4 and luckily there was one table free in an empty... More

We tried this pub as it was recommended, as they allow dogs in. And as we had our family of 3 with us, jack russels. We ordered fish n chips n peas. And 2 pints of larger shandy, and a bowl of water. Drinks were lovely and cold. Very refreshing. Dont know about the water as i didnt try it.... More

We came here for the daughter's 21st meal, followed by a run up Gummer's How! Lovely food, great building (nicely "done" inside) and attentive and friendly staff. It's years we have been and has been up and down in the past- definitely on an "up" at the moment.

The staff at this restaurant were very accommodating, as we had already made a booking, which we were no longer able to make (as we got lost- long story). So had to contact them and change the time of the booking very last minute. On arrival the staff were great, made us feel at home. This restaurant had a lovely... More

This restaurant will forever be known to us as the place where we got the best beer-battered onion rings ever. We ate here twice and I made the 'mistake' of having a starter on the first night. The mushrooms were an absolute delight, may I add, and my main course of Shepherd's Pie was amazing but the portion sizes were... More

Very nice old country pub. The food is excellent, good British country food. My only problem was that there is not much choice on the menu for people who do not drink alcohol. Don't the British drink enough that they have to put it into their meals now? Fish and chips with Beer batter. Hot pot with with Ale. Even... More

Thank you for your lovely review, I am so pleased you enjoyed your meal with us. I'm sorry you felt there wasn't much choice on the menu for you. We do only serve 2 dishes out of 12 that contain alcohol, our beef and ale pie and our beer battered fish and chips and we would have with pleasure done... More

If you are in the lake district, you have to go to this pub for food. It is unpretentious, great, home cooking. We went originally on a Sunday, and the value was just amazing. Three courses for less than £20 off the Sunday lunch menu!! I have paid at least twice as much as that in some places for Sunday... More

Went here with family whilst staying at the Damsen DeneHotel. It is off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. There were four of us and we had a fantastic meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the fish had a very light tempura batter and the mushroom and chesse starters were amazing. The staff were all amazing and... More
