Had a great experience here, away for my birthday weekend and could have asked for a better stay! The staff were great, very friendly and accommodating of us and our soggy pup! The room was beautiful, clean and very smart (although a little warm for our taste. We spend a quiet afternoon in the bar supping whilst chatting to the... More

Stayed over in the lakes for a couple of days and ate in the restaurant twice. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The public house has certainly improved its standards to a very high quality since our last visit and we will certainly be returning

Needed somewhere to eat close to where we were staying & we found the hare and hound. I'm so glad we did, the food is very good. I had the steak & ale pie with spring onion mash, the gravy is delicious. Can also recommend the lamb shank, the creme brûlée & sticky toffee pudding. Fair selection of local ales.... More

Had a great meal here on Friday night. We booked last minute and they managed to fit us in no problem with a lovely table next to the fire. Food was amazing and the guys who served us were really nice and attentative. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Having heard a lot about this pub and it's standing in the Good Food Pub Guide (#4) I thought I would give it a try and I'm glad i did. The welcome from the staff is second to none, nothing was too much hassle. The food was excellent, and at a great value for money in my view. Will definitely... More

Found this atmospheric pub a few years ago on a busy Cartmel race day and couldn't get a table and have been trying to find it again ever since. Very quiet this time, probably the post Christmas lull. Good selection of beers and warm welcome from the staff. Good quality pub menu at a reasonable price also with a 2... More

Called here on Sunday, have been many times before. The quality of the food is excellent, however the boiled potatoes on this occasion were hard and the taste not very good, microwaved? Will still be back and hopefully this will be sorted out.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Hare and Hounds, and we were not disappointed! The staff and owner were so welcoming and we received outstanding service!
