We had lunch at the pub after a lovely walk along the canal and through the woods. The pub was very popular and the food excellent. We shared a sandwich but admired the other meals coming out of the kitchen. The menu look great and the range of beers and wine fab. However it lost one star from me due... More

I rarely order a roast dinner in a restaurant as it's never as good as a home cooked one but this was really excellent with generous portions of meat and enormous crisp and soft Yorkshire puddings. I can't recommend this highly enough.

We had a lovely evening at the Chequers.. The atmosphere was good as was the food and wine. Menu choice was good and a fair price was charged. I would re-visit

we had sunday lunch on a spur of the moment booking and wow it didn't disappoint. We reserved a table for 12;30 and glad we did as by 1 the place was full. The bar had the most amazing selection of cocktails outside London followed by an even more impressive collection of beers . Service was excellent and we were... More

We went here for Sunday lunch, I think the pub itself is very pleasing to the eye ie quaint/welcoming with a lovey real fire smell Boasting a great and unusual selection of lagers/ales Great service on the whole although a little slow, we sat in the old part around the back which is what an old inn should be like... Stayed here for one night as had to be in Nottingham the following day. What a gorgeous pub this is - would love it as my local. Fabulous array of drinks, including a great range of summer cocktails at the time of our visit. Dinner in the restaurant was a delicious treat. Chateaubriand was especially good. We were staying on... More

I've been here many times for the food and overnight stay with my partner as we always have a lovely relaxing time. The food is always fantastic, the rooms are clean and the staff are so lovely and accommodating. We can even take the dog in the bar and in our room which is great. I'd recommend this place for... We visited for lunch on Monday (4 of us). I cannot do justice in mere words to this Inn. The beer was excellent, the food was simply wonderful and the rooms (bar and dining room) are conducive to complete relaxation. We live in Dorset, where no Inn comes anywhere near this standard. Can we dismantle it, brick by brick, and... More
