Sunday lunch with a friend

Never been here before. Busy, (car park overflowing) warm and friendly. Nice welcome. Great atmosphere. A real 'heart of the village' pub/restaurant. Loads of different options for where to eat or drink. I asked for somewhere close to or in an open fire. We were seated next to an open fire... read more

We booked a lunch time meal for five and can't wait to go back and enjoy more of this menu. We chose the pub menu of house special beef burgers and home cooked pies which were all cooked to perfection. The deserts were scrumptious and the overall experience delightful.

The place is really nice and if the weather is good there are plenty of places to sit outside , but if you are just calling for a drink you will find it very hard to find anywhere to sit , the bar area which is very small as two very large tables where there are usually people eating and... More

Love this pub, great homely setting, great food, very good service. I had the ham hock terrine to start (see photo and ignore the smoked salmon on the plate... Myself and my partner like to share food)-loved the pub piccalilli- 8/10 Pork dinner for main. With red cabbage and brussel tops. Veg cooked to perfection. Delicious moist meat, nice gravy.... More

A family celebration Sunday lunch proved to be disappointing this time. We had pre-booked for 7 people at 1200hrs and were seated quickly. The newly extended dining room, which is great for functions, then filled up rapidly. Main course orders were taken and after some delay arrived followed by the vegetables. There then was an extended delay before any clearance... More

We were guests of a corporate group celebrating the festive season with dinner. As a well managed pub it seems very popular and offered a welcome aperitif before taking our seats in the dining room. With three courses being served to some 50 diners, it is always difficult to sustain a good standard of cuisine and service but the efficient... More

A pre Christmas get together with friends should have been a joyous event! The food was very disappointing, almost stuck in a time warp. 70's prawn cocktail, cold turkey and poor desserts all for £35 a head. A very poor show.
