Very Good

My wife and I dined here on a Saturday night with friends. We had been before a while ago and it was only OK so we were curious to see how it was on this visit. We stayed overnight to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday. The staff were excellent and organised to have a bottle of champagne in a the room on our arrival. We were in room 1. It was a decent sized room with a huge king size bed! It was just perfect for one night. We had booked a table for dinner in... More

Last Sunday my sister arranged a table for us at The Chequers. It was bustling in a nice way. Drinks were served promptly and in lovely glasses. We found a bench to sit on and had fun swapping jokes about the boars head on the wall! We were quickly led to our table by very polite, smart young women. As... More

We have lived in the Vale of Belvoir for thirteen years now and the one Inn/Restaurant that has never disappointed us and which we revisit every few months, is the Chequers at Woolsthorpe. This is a real pub where you can simply sit or stand in the bar area, as many locals do, but has many a nook and cranny... More

We have not been to this restaurant for some time but decided to visit for Sunday lunch with a group of friends. The place was very busy but we had booked a table and were seated immediately. Having got a few drinks we waited for the menu which took some time to arrive. The heading stated 2 courses for £13.95... More

Lovely Saturday lunch, food gets better each time we visit. Very popular for wedding receptions - which take up some kitchen capacity - so if you're going for lunch, make sure you book ahead to get a table!

We'd never been to this village before but booked lunch on a visit to Grantham. Service was a little slow but the food is really very good if a little pricey - the meal only slightly spoiled by a piece of wrapper from one of the desserts embedded in the dish. However, they took the price of the dessert off... More

I was rather disappointed with lunch today. I decided to treat my son's girlfriend to lunch and thought I would take her somewhere I could rely on. We arrived around 1pm and ordered around 10/15 minutes later. It was getting close to 2pm before our meal arrived. The table next to us complained about the slow service and went without... More

What a perfect family resturant. Castle in the background which the kids throughly was from Harry Potter, cricket pitch next door which we enjoyed watching on Sunday afternoon, and tons of cools cars for petrol head Dad's. Oh, and amazing food (roast beef was perfect) accommodating and friendly staff and super service. Will be back 100%. Loved it!

An extremely pleasant and welcoming pub. Good choice of local beers, the food was excellent and the staff very attentive. Would recommend without hesitation. Will revisit next time when the sun is shining to enjoy the surrounding country side and beer garden which looked lovely even in the torrential rain.
