Plenty of choice but good, fresh food. I would particularly recommend the skewered king prawns flavoured with lemon grass but everything we tried was excellent.

I recently arranged to take a group of 14 to this venue. From the initital enquiry to the meal on the day, everything went very smoothly. The patron and chef went out of their way to ensure we had a table arrangement to suit, the pre-ordered and varied food arrived in a timely manner and was well received by everyone.... More

Friendly ambience, lovely choice of well cooked food, good ale and in a peaceful country location. Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Special thanks to the chef. Would definitely visit again.

After many years of visiting this pub, sometimes seldomly due to falls in standards, this pub seems to be back to it's best. Good food at decent prices and a lovely building.

We (myself and my wife) visit regularly and usually only have drinks. The pub is a favourite of ours as the ales are well kept, the service is always efficient and friendly and the boss is a very helpful chap that has worked hard to improve the place. It is an authentic old country find, a lovely, unashamedly English tavern... More

This was our second visit and stay at The Royal George. We loved it so much last time we brought my Mum and Dad this time.We had lovely clean rooms and great food. The breakfast was large and tasty. Our evening meal was also nicely cooked and with a varied selection to choose from. There are lovely walks around and... More

This is the first time we have eaten at this pub, although we have called in for a drink several years ago, when passing. We were quite disappointed. When entering the bar there is a strong smell of dog, and indeed there were 3 dogs in the bar area. The floors were carpeted so may be these should be replaced... More

An interesting, varied and inexpensive menu with character surroundings. Unfortunately the 'special' evening was marred by the fact that during our meal we had a customers dog within about three feet of our table. Unsure of the hygiene regulations we let it pass without mentioning it to the staff but we both felt decidely uncomfortable and left without completing to... More

Thank your for your 'review'. Several points I would like to raise. I'm glad you liked our menu, so I'm a little surprised you marked The Royal Oak down on atmosphere and value. We have worked long a hard to provide a varied menu that covers all prices and various foods to suit all. We do state on our website... More

We stayed here before heading to a wedding the following day. We were warmly welcomed and had 2 excellent steaks which were melt-in-the-mouth tender. The room was large, the bed comfortable and nobody was worried about us taking a few extra minutes to get dressed up before we departed. If you want a relaxed evening out or weekend away then...
