A fantastic place to stay, just off the A1 yet set in a beautiful little village. The accommodation is very roomy and very clean! The food was excellent with just the right amount of choices. The owners did us a special breakfast too (we don't eat fried food). A bottle of wine was very reasonable too! My husband enjoyed the... More

We met up with family here as it was in a great location for us location and had already received good reviews. The reviews were not wrong and our visit did not dissapoint. As we arrived at 12 the pub was quiet, we found the atmosphere to be welcoming and the decor subtle yet appealing. We each had a starter... More

I dined here alone for Sunday lunch and felt very comfortable. There is a choice between bar-type eating and restaurant with full cloths, napkins, etc. . I ate in the bar and found it very comfortable and cosy. The menu was wide-ranging and reasonably priced. The food was served quickly, was hot and well-presented with good-sized portions. I noticed that... More

Called in at the Royal Oak for dinner last week, had a lovely meal in what we saw as a friendly and welcoming pub, with excellent value food. Its only a couple of miles off the A1 and is well worth a visit.

my family and i visited on saturday night and ordered various different meals from the new menu including venison and plaice, salmon and prawns etc and all of us without exception thoroughly enjoyed the meals ,the service and the overall ambiance. The chef was even good enough to discuss with us special dietary requirements without a problem. The prices we paid... More

Came in for a meal this week and hadn't booked. We was made to fill like we was an inconvenience due to the fact that we hadn't booked and felt the service wasn't up to the high standard that we had heard it to be. The food was average for the price that was paid and wasn't overly impressed. Other... More

Thank you for spending the time to post a review of The Royal Oak. We have been several times since this pub re-opened in December last year and we have never been disappointed. Whether for a light midweek snack, Saturday evening dinner or Sunday lunch, the standard has always been excellent. The staff are efficient, polite and friendly and will always do what they can to make your meal a pleasant experience.

We called in at The Royal Oak a couple of weeks ago, and enjoyed a delicious meal, in a very welcoming atmosphere. The Landlord was extremely friendly, and the waiting staff very efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed every course and would recommend this venue to everyone. My Husband said it was the best steak he has had in a very long... More
