Family lunch

Busy Sunday lunchtime, but we were seated within minutes by friendly cheerful staff. A nice range of food on the menu and all 4 of us ordered different dishes and we're all happy with our lunch. Great cakes too. The downsides were toilets which could be cleaner and separate sex toilets would... read more

Visited the other lunch time with some friends. Very impressed with cleanliness and friendly/efficient staff. The food was delicious and very fresh. We also wanted to take all the cakes home with us ! Would definitely return and recommend. I think I would book in advance though next time to guarantee a table as it seemed to be very busy.

Went for a coffee and scones after fruit picking. the scones were more like musket balls - tiny and round. I'm no baker but these seem to be seriously overcooked. Spoke to the manageress but she did not really listen - rolled eyes - was more intent on telling me how they were home made. This cafe could be so... More

We been here on several occasions but not for some time. The menu choice was adequate. I had the frittata and salad which was quite pleasant. However, my husband ordered fish and chips. It arrived as a greasy mess- personally I wouldn't have eaten it but he diid and regretted it. The cheese selection was half what it used to... More

I am glad you enjoyed your meal but am sorry your husband's was not as expected. We take great pride in our home cooked food so please tell us at the time if things are not to your satisfaction as we will be only too happy to resolve any issues immediately. We currently stock more types of cheese than we... More

Group,of 6 called for lunch and in spite of lots of empty seats and several empty tables , allegedly reserved, they were too busy to serve us inside. Far to windy outside, no attempts to create a bit of shelter in spite of tables being in quite an exposed position. But the real issue was the attitude, can't believe how... More

I am sorry we were unable to seat your party on this occasion. As a small farm shop and cafe on a fruit farm at the height of the fruit season we are very busy and get fully booked on most days therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend calling in advance to book a table. Even if it is just... More

Idyllic setting let down by staff. Menu is simple but fine with a good selection of cakes. Unfortunately the big let down are the staff. Led by a grumpy manager to whom words like helpful and service are alien concepts this cafe is working on 50% efficiency. Customers seem to be an irritation.

We went for breakfast every thing fresh and locally sourced. Called in again another day for coffee and what others were eating looked very appetising. It is worth a visit I recommend it you won't be disappointed.

A party of 18 Saturday volunteers from nearby Belton House enjoyed yet another great meal and it was very reasonably priced. I enjoyed a large freshly cooked home made frittata with a side salad followed by home made Bakewell pudding in a lemon sauce and coffee for afters. the serving staff were also very attentive. Highly recommended ( this is... More
