Judith Glue's has become a failsafe for us in Kirkwall. The fare is largely local, simple, tasty and always nicely presented; prices are reasonable and it's open seven days a week, including six evenings. Soup (almost always orange in colour) and local delicious bere bannocks might be followed by a crab salad or baked tattie, then a homebake for dessert... More

I popped in here a few weeks back for some food at lunchtime and was impressed with the quality of the food. The cafe is to the rear of the shop, and is seemingly always busy, with both locals and visitors alike. Not the cheapest of menu's but the quality of the fayre speaks for itself.

The food is fresh and tasty, but the problem was the outrageous wait before it got served (nearly an hour).

It's all very good. Pleasant surroundings with happy staff serving interesting Real Food. We used it twice this trip. Once we wanted in and out swiftly, coffee and cake kinda thing. It happened! Just so. The other, we lazed a a bit over lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere, with no hassle.

Cafe at the rear of a shop. Varied menu, so hard to choose what was best. Opted for the beef burger. Fairly average for £ 9.95. Very friendly team, but would not rush back. Could be a little more creative.

Directly opposite St Magnus Cathedral this place is a must try if you are in the area. The cafe is at the back of a shop that sells good quality woollens, pottery and music. Everything is prepared on the premises in front of you from fresh and smoked local produce. We shared the Orkney Smorgasbord and asked the staff to... More

Good choice of home-cooked food. I recommend the platter of crab claws and oatcakes. Can be very bust - be prepared to share a table, but this adds to the fun

We popped in once and were hooked; visiting three times in one week. Everything looks delicious but we had soup and cheese scones or beremeal bannocks, great coffees and delicious freshly baked cakes each time. The quiches and seafood platters were going down well and everyone seemed to be enjoying the food and the place. One teeny niggle, and we... More

This café/restaurant is situated at the back of a wonderfully eclectic arts/collectables shop and the food is wonderful. A huge array of great fresh salads, quiches, breads, cakes and selection of burgers (including veggie, pork, beef) plus hot specials (such as casseroles, meat loaf etc). Also choice of beers, wine, usual soft drinks. We had cheeseburger and dressed crab, both... More

We like to pop in for a hot chocolate and a gorgeous cake when we can. We have also had main meals here and the quality is good and service friendly. The cafe and restaurant has expanded each time we have visited Orkney and with the quality you can see why.
