A great little Restaurant with rooms open for Evening Suppers 6 nights a week (closed Mondays) and 5 nights a week in the winter (closed Mondays & Tuesdays, October-February) serving locally sourced home cooked food to order in our cosy lounge bar. As we only have a limited number of covers and the table is yours for the night, booking really is essential.

This place was recommended and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed and shown to our table by the host. The menu was brought written on a board, which added to the atmosphere and when food came we were not disappointed, it was excellent. Staff were very friendly and made you feel relaxed, no pressure to vacate table. All in... More

On Saturday night I had my first visit to The Hightae Inn. Had I not had a navigator I'm unsure I would have found the place! It had been highly recommended and my initial impression was of a traditional building sympathetically restored and decorated in a modern Scottish flair. There was adequate parking for about 5/6 cars next to the... More

Great that you found us - we're only 10 minutes off the motorway and Hightae's a wonderful wee village. Glad you enjoyed the food and drinks - the Lamb Shanks were particularly spiffing. We'd love to see you again, just give us a call. M&M, The Hightae Inn. More

My wife and I dined at The Hightae Inn for third time last night. First visit back in September was prompted by some local advertising but when I looked at Trip Advisor I noticed that the vast majority of the reviews were from visitors to the area. I now realise that the canny locals who visit Mark and Morag's establishment... More

Great to see you both again. Huge thanks for taking the time to post your review - so glad you enjoy what we do tucked away here in Hightae. Munich Red really is a wonderful beer isn't it - keep your eyes on Twitter when we get our next batch in. Cheers M&M at The Hightae Inn. More

Lovely to experience Mark and Morag's hospitality again with family members. Food is always of a consistenly high standard. Friendly service from Mark, and Morag doing an excellent job behind the scenes in the kitchen. My sisters thought the Sauvignon Blanc was wonderful! Cosy atmosphere, good table banter. Excellent evening once again.

From the warmest of welcomes to the most scrumptious of menus this little inn makes your evening one to remember and experience again and again. Mark as the front of house host and Morag as the endlessly talented chef are the very close to perfect couple! (Mark would claim perfection Morag would be justified in that high accolade!! Ha ha!)... We joined friends to have a super meal in this Hightae village restaurant. It was rurally peaceful but aromas from the farms made our mouths water. It was busy but not overcrowded and the staf knowledgeable and friendly. To think it is really only a stones throw away from Dumfries makes us want to return with even more friends. Miller

Thanks for finding Hightae amongst all this great local produce - we hope to see you again over from Dumfries - remember don't use the satnav. It could take you over Carthat Hill which would be a great shame on your vehicle. Cheers M&M, The Hightae Inn. More
