This pub, located in the pleasant village of Wymeswold -- about halfway between Loughborough and West Bridgford in Nottingham, is well worth the trip. Low beamed ceilings give it a rustic country feel but the pub is sophisticated, offering a wide range of beers/ales, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Note: the bar area is quite cosy. Everything on the menu... More

We have been to the restaurant twice before and both times felt the food was great but the service a little less than (given the type of atmosphere they seem to be aiming for). On this visit the food was absolutely brilliant as was the service. We had the grazing menu and each course was substantial, delicious and beautifully cooked... More

Been here a few times and always good food. Prices are reasonable for the standard you get. If you go for the 8 course menu, you had better be hungry. The menus change seasonally and are imaginative. Service is as you would expect at this level. Will be visiting again soon no doubt.

Had the 7 course tasting menu mid-week with my wife who is vegetarian. No problems with vegetarian alternatives for the 7 courses. The bar has a very comprehensive selection of different gins, which was a very good start. Nice lounge area to peruse the menu. The good start was maintained with some of the nicest bread I've had for a... More

Just called into this pub on a whim for lunch today and it was lovely. The lunch menu was limited and we had to order a full meal for my 4yr old daughter but the food we had was gorgeous. My other half had steak and my daughter and myself had the fish and chips and I can honestly say... More

This is the fourth time we have visited the restaurant and just like before the whole experience was just fantastic! We booked for our wedding anniversary and from our first offering of the selection of still warm homemade breads we knew we had made a good choice! I had the chicken liver parfait to start which was so creamy and... More

This was our first visit to the Hammer and Pincers but it will certainly not be the last! It was a really good idea for them to ring and check that we would keep the booking. We received a warm welcome and the service was excellent all evening, nor did we ever feel that we were being rushed, which is... More

Booked in for our anniversary meal to treat ourselves for once. Went for an evening booking and the restaurant was pretty quiet at the time of arrival but got busier later on Bread selection to start with then quickly came our starters. The starter of scallops with crab cakes served with pea was spot on, highly recommended by myself whilst... More

Stopped on here on the way to our hotel, as we have done a couple of times before. We were not disappointed. It was throwing it down and few people were out, so the restaurant was quiet, but the service was pleasant and attentive and the food really good. We had the lunch meany, 2 courses, good value and ample.... More

Visited in August for a family meal- and was disappointed as our waitress was not attentive, and let the establishment down somewhat.. She did not suite this class of restaurant. Main meal portion was generous- and the filet steaks were very tasty. However My pudding had a hair in the middle- which ruined my meal completely, the owner offered to... More
