Very soon in a meal here you are aware of sampling food from a "serious" chef. Fresh produce, served in fascinating combinations, create delightful plates of inventive cuisine. A light, unusual blend of lemon scented scallops, lobster mousse with pea puree and a scattering of pea shoots set the tone for an excellent Saturday dinner. The green chill vegetable curry... More

We ate lunch here three years ago on our "first date" and return every year to celebrate, lunch is always excellent here. This time we we treated ourselves to dinner, the grazing menu with accompanying wine selection for dinner seemed very good value for money. We soaked up the decor over a pre dinner glass of champagne before being guided... More

Brilliant meal here again. We had the grazing menu with matching wines. Really faultless and inventive across all eight courses. Super service which is an achievement when the place is so busy. We eat out a lot and have been to a fair few Michelin star restaurants in the UK and overseas and this still strikes me as impressive. We... More

A great location to meet up with friends for a chat and catch up over a really good meal. Plenty of parking, easy to find and the building decor and staff welcome were a positive start to the evening. The bar area is small so we went straight to the table and the staff were nicely in the background while... More

If there's a better way to spend £20 in a restaurant in Leicestershire I've yet to find it. Friendly, informal service and terrific food. The lunch time and early evening menu is sensational value.

This is not a recent review. However I have dined here twice in the last 5 years with my family , on both occasions the food was of good quality and the ambiance was cosy on both occasions.

Came here with the girlfriends parents for a lovely roast dinner, cracking size portion (I play rugby and it stuffed me out) The food was cooked to perfection and the 3 course set menu was not only tasty but priced very well. The bar is cutely placed in the middle of the pub creating a fantastic atmosphere especially due to... More

Attractive decor, the food was good too. I didn't have a starter but everyone else said they were excellent, the pheasant was delicious, however my husbands meat wasn't all that tender. The sweets looked great, very pretty, but they tasted a little bland. The biggest downside was the price of the wine, very expensive though it tasted very good. All... More

We eat here from time to time knowing that we will undoubtedly be pleased with our meal. We recommend and take friends to dine here because we know we will not be disappointed. The lunches are really good value and dinner at the Hammer and Pincers is always a treat.

We've been meaning to dine at the Hammer and Pincers ever since they opened ....oh so many years ago now !! We decided to book last minute for a Saturday lunch ....forgetting it was Valentines Day....A day we usually actively avoid eating out ....overpriced set menus etc. etc. Anyway....we had an excellent lunch. The restaurant was full, we tried both... More
