A good local

We joined family for a Sunday lunch at what turned out to be a more traditional local clearly well supported by residents in the area. On the plus side the food was good and well presented plus the drinks selection covered most choices. On the down side service was a little haphazard and lacked... read more

We went to the Chequers on recommendation from friends, and we weren't disappointed. Lovely Sunday roast, plenty of meat, and good variety of veg, good roasties, very tasty gravy. The menu also looked good with a variety of dishes, including veggie options. We had the sharing cheese and biscuits to follow, even though we were pretty full, but couldn't resist... More

After a long walk all we wanted was a good lunch and that's what we got. The pork came with nice stuffing. Good crackling and the portion size was more than ample. Nice lunch in a quaint old pub, nothing spectacular about the food or the venue it was simply very nice. The food was good, well presented and tasty enough. Good varied menu, well priced and we enjoyed what we had, the staff were friendly and the service was very good.

We visited The Chequers Inn whilst on holiday. I had the lambs liver which arrived with mustard mash potato, onion gravy and lots of freshly cooked vegetables including courgette, celeriac, carrots and broccoli, all very tasty and only about £10! We sat in the beautifully kept garden; a little oasis at the back of the pub. There is also an... More

Visited the Chequers at Lower Pennington for a quiet meal to catch up with friends. There have been several negative reviews but we went anyway and were pleased we did as the food and service both were excellent. We ate mostly from the specials board and the choice of veg included was great - OTHER RESTAURANTS PLEASE NOTE. So no... More

By appointment our walking group of 15 walkers, pre-ordered our meals from a good menu and several specials of the day. On our return at 12.30pm our reserved tables were neatly set out in the restaurant and we duly ordered our drinks and sat down. Our meals were swiftly delivered by the two pleasant waitresses. The meals were extremely good,... More

I had a very nice lunch here. Sat outside in the lovely sunny garden, served good food and excellent cider!
