Nice local pub with visitors made welcome

First visit in many years and whilst it was a very quiet dark Jan evening with few other clients, we were made to feel welcome and nice to meet the pub dog who was quiet and present rather than boisterous. We only visited for drinks but nice to find the pub as it used to be old premises, wooden... read more

I took 14 friends here for lunch while walking from Keyhaven to Lymington, very friendly place, walker helpful, staff nice, beer good, we have a mix of main meals and snacks among the 14, comments ranged from good to excellent, mainly at the top end. Tip if you are bring a large party book as it can get busy, and... More

We happened on The Chequers whilst out for a drive and it looked to be a great pub with a lot of atmosphere which it was on entering. We ordered the food we wanted but had to wait some time, in that time I asked the girl at the bar why we hadn't had the food. In the end we... More

The food was brilliant, my husband had a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings the meat was tender, the Yorkshire Puds will risen and potatoes as a roast potatoe should be and lovely fresh veg. I had a lovely homemade lasagne which was full of great tasting beef and mushrooms, a fresh salad and garlic bread. The grandchildren had... More

If it's a traditional pub you want, Chequers is it! Tucked well off the beaten track, it's a great place to head to after a sea wall walk for some well needed refreshment. The food has always been excellent when I've eaten there - not gastro-pub, but well made traditional pub grub.

After walking 3 miles on a circular walk from Keyhaven, we were looking forward to a light lunch so we detoured to the Chequers Inn as it was recommended in the book of Hampshire walks we were using as our guide. Attractively situated in a rural area not that far from Lymington, we were met by a grumpy old Labrador... More

Really the only place to watch rugby in the area. Great set up for the World Cup. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Great eats. Shame about the rugby!

It`s a public house, not a fine dining establishment, Londoners should remember this. The owner is anachronistic but better than another Enterprise inns manager, bit like Marmite! Food is ok, bar is well stocked and comfortable, big sporting events are on monster TV outside. What else do you want from a country pub? Chilren and dogs who are well behaved... More

Arrived at about 2pm on Friday 13th hoping for lunch. Not knowing the area very well, we always knew we would be lucky to find a decent place for lunch. Well we hit the jackpot ! It was exactly what you'd want in a Pub. Wooden floors, plenty of conversation going on as we opened the door, very good Beer... More

We went here with about 20 friends to watch the RWC final. The landlord was the most unpleasant man - he stood at his bar table ordering his staff of mostly young women around to drag heaters around etc... He couldn't assist with this job himself because he's too far and I'll need. He was rude to staff and customers... More
