Bank Holiday Monday

Called with friends late lunchtime and had a delicious speedily served meal. Good varied menu. Belly pork with black pudding excellent and no problem with request for extra 3 mustard sauce. The ploughmans was of a sensible size and the pork dish of the day looked great

We booked a table for 17 for Sunday night, 8 adults, 9 kids from 11-14 years old. The food was very good, especially the grilled goats cheese salad which was better than those I had in France a few weeks ago. Given we all ordered different things the food service was good. We would visit again if in the area.

I visit this pub at least once a year and always thoroughly enjoy it. I was here last week in the early afternoon and as the weather was glorious, we sat outside in the courtyard. Even though it was early, the place was very busy which speaks volumes as it's a bit off the beaten track. We were given a... More

The pub was a midway point on our evening walk. Food was excellent with some quirky choices such as snails (something I didn't expect in a pub). Good service and a great place to go for a summers evening walk after!

We booked for 9 with 3 dogs so maybe not surprised that we were shoved in the marquee but it felt damp and tatty. However, once we were settled the food service and quality was great. Setting aside, it was a lovely pub and the staff were great. Those in the main pub looked very comfortable!

The area that they call the Marquee is so horrendous. It's Damp and Cold. And This is where they put you to eat when you come with your dog. There is mould and ivy growing through the holes in the canvas. I didn't really see the rest of the pub other than the bar area. So can't comment on that.... More

The Chequers Inn is in a very wealthy part of Lymington so you might expect it to be a classy country pub. You would be wrong. the first impression was of dog hairs everywhere, all over the door mat etc. it is a huge pub and the whole place was just a bit grubby and tatty. The garden was nice... More

Recommended by locals as a quintessential English Pub. Luckily we walked as the parking looked horrendous. The atmosphere seemed busy as we entered, obviously so busy no one could actually acknowledge our presence to enquire about the booking we had made. Finally we were seated and begrudgingly handed menus and a wine list. The choice was limited by the lines... More

At the end of a great walk around Pennington and Keyhaven Marshes we stumbled over Chequers Inn. In need of a drink and bite to eat we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, so much so that we have extended our usual walk several times just to eat there. Staff are cheerful and service quick and efficient.... More

I can only assume the good reviews for this place are from the people who have visited when the owner is away. It's a shame trip advisor don't offer a negative rating.

I thought you might make an entry> On the day in question you were in the bar with various children making a little more noise than would be expected, I asked you politely if you could take them to the marquee, garden or courtyard as about 12 adult customers had left the inside and headed outside with mutterings of "what...
