A pub that would attract all ages, families or singles. Lovely country setting with nice outside area which had an outside bar and speakers which didn't deafen you. Seating could be for large or smaller parties. The food was very good with cheaper options on the menu and a good variety to choose from. Very popular with locals and visitors... More

Great pub, dogs welcome, proper pub food well priced. What a nice change, proper country pub, last time we visited in the winter the log burner was on, this time we eat in the court yard, friendly staff and landlord has a refreshing sense of humour! Proper English pub

Great traditional pub in a nice quiet location. Very pleasant garden at the rear to relax in. Good selection of beers and food menu. Well patronised by the locals. A great stop off point after a walk along the Solent Way and the salt marshes. Dog friendly. Plenty of different areas of the pub to enjoy. Can get very busy... More

Says it all. Better than it has ever been. Great beers and great food and superb hosting by a lovely mix of staff ages. Young enthusiasms tempered by age and experience. Bring it on. I will be back

Surprised about the negative comments. We called in for an early Sunday lunch, and the staff were very welcoming, there was a good buzz about the place, and it clearly is a good local. The Sea Bass was fresh, and beautifully cooked, in fact all the food was very good. The place could do with a lick of paint here... More

I'm not surprised that this pub is a Marmite pub. Those of us that like the place just love it, clearly there are those that don't. More fool those that don't

There seem to be a fair mix of reviews on here so I approached with some trepidation. However these concerns were not well founded. The beer (and choice) was excellent. The food was very good as well. It does seem to be quite a locals pub and very dog friendly too. (In fact probably too many dogs for my personal... More

It would be nice to have been able to review the quality of food and service... but we never got that far. I phoned last Saturday afternoon to book a table for four, the phone was answered by a man who simply said in a less than obliging voice "we're very busy, I can't talk to you, you'll have to... More

exactly what it says on the tin , good pub grub at very reasonable prices ..... When a lot of pubs are punching above their weight trying to sell over priced meals that don't deliver! The chequers is still selling beer snacks ie: burger and chips, ribs and chips etc, just what's needed on a Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the... More

Chequers is in a narrow lane on the outskirts of Lymington close to the coastal path and is a charming old building with courtyard and garden With some trepidation I tried my first beer. This pub is not in the Good Beer Guide nor Cask Marque accredited so the signs were not encouraging, and as the Ringwood Best was "off... More
