Nothing Special

We have often walked past this cafe and, to be frank, the location and outlook has put us off stopping. However on Saturday lunchtime we decided to give it a try. So we ordered the squash soup with crusty bread. The place was not at all busy and our soups arrived fairly quickly. My wife's soup... read more

If you are arriving in Lymington by boat, this is probably easier to find. If, like me you're on foot.. It's a bit hidden away... It is well worth discovering though. I work in Southampton in the week and stay in Lymington, in a hotel. As a result I've been to every restaurant on the high street and don't want... More

The food was nice, well cooked and well presented but service just a little slow we thought and one or two of the orders (8 of us) were in a muddle. Quality of the food was very good though and both food & wine reasonably priced. While the service was a little slow the staff were very nice and very... More

Having read the reviews of this restsurent and being a frequent sailing visitors to berthon we thought this would be ideal to take new friends. The owner and/ or manager/daughter not there on a busy Saturday night left us feeling we were in a restauarant run by a youth club. The waiter had no idea about the wine or the... More

I always try to be objective about all the places I visit, but this really is my kind of lunchtime venue. Contemporary, informal but upmarket decor and delicious menu choices with quality ingredients. Not so sure I would want to come here for an evening meal as the toilets have to be accessed through the back door and are effectively... More

Second visit for dinner. Had the hot stone steak which was beautiful meat and expertly cooked by myself. Generous salad and French fries. Good value wine and staff that made you fell very welcome. Will visit again.

I read an article about this place in a local sailing rag and planned to coincide a day out in Lymington with my son and a visit for breakfast. Having saved our appetite and resisted temptation till mid morning I was looking forward to a high quality 9 quid full breakfast! Unfortunately in reality the 2 rashers, anaemic (ovened?) sausage,... Appreciate that many good reviews but sure got a captive market with the Berthon Marina immediately adjacent. We had breakfast. Attentive and cheery service compensated for - no mushrooms, no salmon, no spinach (!) which kippered just about every breakfast item on the breakfast menu. Its not rocket science to pitch up in the morning and say - we are... More
