what a plaice

Great little bistro tucked into the boutique hotel. Fillet of plaice with asparagus, just ideal and well presented with saffron potatoes. Friends had the trio of lamb which was also excellent. Firendly staff and decent house wine

We ate from the 5 course tasting menu and were very impressed. The food was of a high standard, well presented and flavoursome. The staff were friendly and attentive with ample time between courses (which were definitely needed!). Slight negative that the waitress serving us seemed a little nervous when talking us through the menu and had difficulty remembering a... More

We ate here during a week's holiday in Lymington and managed to get a table early on the Saturday evening, albeit only in the conservatory area due to the main dining area being fully booked. The staff were all very pleasant but it soon became apparent that they were less attentive than I would have expected, with long delays between... More

Always welcoming, the staff are courteous, pleasant and friendly. The conservatory is the ideal setting for morning coffee, a light lunch or afternoon tea. The choice of menu and the quality of the food is always excellent. We wish we could visit more often. We would particularly like to compliment and thank Ian and Rachel who took such good care of... I don't know what has changed, however, as is usual when we visit Lymington, which is about 10 times a year, we always pop in for breakfast before we hit the market, however, this time after ordering full english breakfasts and asking for the top of the fried eggs to be basted, as we don't like the tops like jelly,... We've had coffee and cakes at The Stanwell before, but we've never been organised enough to try their 'morning' menu. This time we passed on breakfast at our hotel and arrived at The Stanwell around 10.30 on Easter Sunday morning. My wife opted for the Eggs Florentine, but my sweet tooth meant I went for the pastries! We sat in... More

We went here for a lunch over Easter weekend. As it was busy we went in for a coffee to book a table. The conservatory area for coffee was full so we went to the bar area and sat down and waited for 5 minutes or so and then went to the reception area and asked if we could order... More

Always a pleasant time spent in Stanwells - espresso coffee is just the best in Lymington - and served with handmade biscuit too - staff are just soooo sweet !!
