The restaurant interior looks very nice, but that's where it stops. We were not greeted upon arriving and had to ask the bar man for a table to be told "yeah wherever". It was at least 20 mins before anyone came to us with menus or offering drinks. It took over an hour from arriving before our food eventually arrived.... More

My friend and I visited this pub last week for lunch, the whole meal was a disaster. Our starter was supposed to be salmon prawns and cod with a herb Mayo, sounds great. What came was a mushed up pile of nothing distinguishable. My main was not what I ordered and my friends ham egg and chips looked awful! However the... More

Whenever we visited this pub to eat Sunday lunch, we waited for nearly an hour to be served. We ate in there on Sunday 17th August and the food was disgusting! The service was deplorable and we will not be going again.

Together with my wife and daughter, we stopped for lunch on Sunday 17th August 2013 at 13.30 hrs On arrival we were totally ignored by the waitress and so we found and sat at a table My wife then asked the waitress if the table could be wiped over. Her surly response was totally unwelcoming and she went off and... More

Having gone to this pub while holidaying at Shorefield over the last 15 or so years we were sorely disappointed this year to find yet another change of ownership and a VERY basic pub menu on offer! They had Gammon Egg and Chips on the specials menu! This pub used to have locally sourced fresh fish at the heart of... More

7pm booking, drinks order taken and served at table, at 720pm, after drinks arrived we are told it will be an hour to serve food. Very annoyed that we ordered and were served drinks before discovering that it will be 80 minutes from table booking to food so left. The place was only half full so have no idea what... More

I just love going to The Royal Oak as it is 'oldy worldy' and so restful. The last time Mum and I went I had the best Greek Salad this side of Greece! It was a really big plate and was piled high! Mum had Pan Fried Cod with a tomato and basil sauce and she said it was delicious.... More

I last ate at this restaurant a couple of years ago at lunchtime when the quality of the food was well above average. However, on returning there last weekend, I was unpleasantly surprised to see that it has now turned into what is basically a burger and sausage place. We had made a reservation for dinner but, after looking at... More
