Good food!

My partner and i had a meal at the Blue Ball as we were caravanning at Meadowsweet Farm just up the road. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The wild mushrrom risotto was superb as was the lamb, rosemary and garlic sausages! Good selection of beer.

I was part of a party of four who sent to the Blue Ball yesterday (Fathers day) for lunch. It as a lovely venue, thatched roof and nice inside, but the food was very average. We had the salmon and crayfish for a starter which was very nice followed by roast beef. The beef was tuff, Yorkshire pudding overcooked. We... More

Four of us ate at the Blue Ball whilst staying in Braunstone for the night following a day's cycling around Rutland Water. We were consequently quite hungry. All the food we were served was delicious - well cooked and good sized (but not too huge) portions. There was a good selection of beers and wines and all the serving staff... More

Had a fabulous evening and meal at the Blue Ball last Friday. The food was delicious, service impeccable and surroundings just delightful! Not only was the food tasty and cooked to perfection, it was fairly priced and spot on in terms of portion size - best steak I've had in a long time. There was a good selection of ales... More

We called in on a Saturday night for an evening meal (4 adults and 1 child). We were made very welcome. Just as a previous reviewer has said, we were taken to the back of the restaurant because we hadn't booked. The food was lovely and service was good but a little slow especially when it came to ordering a... More

I came here with my partner and her daughter who has just moved into the area for Sunday lunch as we had been once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sadly not this time. When we arrived at 12.15, we were greeted and asked what we would like to drink. We were given our drinks and taken to the back of... More

We were staying locally for the weekend in our motorhome and visited The Blue Ball for dinner on Saturday. The staff were extremely friendly, pleasant and helpful, we had a delicious meal. We returned Sunday lunchtime before heading home as they had a jazz band playing, one of the band members birthdays. Excellent band and finished our weekend off nicely.... More

After an absence of several years, having heard some good reports, we went for supper on a weekday evening. It was a very pleasant experience. There was a warm fire in the background, a number of special dishes as well of those on the menu. All good pub grub with a bit of special preparation. The staff were very pleasant... More

My wife and I visited the Blue Ball whilst house hunting in Rutland. We were greeted by the bar man who stopped his conversation to welcome us which was a refreshing change!! We were asked if we would like to see the lunch menu and were also given the specials and baguette menu The food was as good as the... More
