We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub has a lovely atmosphere with lots of character. We had a drink by the fire before having a light lunch. The staff were really polite and welcoming and if it was near to where we live we would go back again soon!

There did not seem to be a children's menu but the staff were very happy to offer smaller portions of the food on the main menu. This was... More

This place promises a warm welcome, good food, and beautiful ambiance. Wow are they modest! I rate any restaurant on the food first, and the overall experience second, so I will take it in that order. The food is proper English country fare... but with passion! Reading the menu you will find lots of traditional foods like beetroot, crayfish, Yorkshire... More

My wife booked a table of 16 as a surprise for my birthday – We had eaten here a couple of times before and love the location and the quality of the food that is exceedingly good value. A rural, rustic pub that serves gastro pub food has to be worth a visit on my view. We had a large... More

This place is a really good place for a relaxing country meal. The ambiance is great and the staff are attentive and friendly. We had lunch and can recommend the herb crusted hake and the lamb burger. Good selection of drinks make this a good place to stop. TIP - if it's cold weather do not book a window seat... More

Happy to have seen the signs to the 17th century inn or would have never known it was there. Stopped for a drink with my partner on the way home from taking our baby son swimming in oakham, we were greeted by a very pleasant lady who pointed out the food available, directed us to some nice seats by a...
