We called in on a Saturday night for an evening meal (4 adults and 1 child). We were made very welcome. Just as a previous reviewer has said, we were taken to the back of the restaurant because we hadn't booked. The food was lovely and service was good but a little slow especially when it came to... read more

I came here with my partner and her daughter who has just moved into the area for Sunday lunch as we had been once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sadly not this time. When we arrived at 12.15, we were greeted and asked what we would like to drink. We were given our drinks and taken to the back of... More

We were staying locally for the weekend in our motorhome and visited The Blue Ball for dinner on Saturday. The staff were extremely friendly, pleasant and helpful, we had a delicious meal. We returned Sunday lunchtime before heading home as they had a jazz band playing, one of the band members birthdays. Excellent band and finished our weekend off nicely.... More

After an absence of several years, having heard some good reports, we went for supper on a weekday evening. It was a very pleasant experience. There was a warm fire in the background, a number of special dishes as well of those on the menu. All good pub grub with a bit of special preparation. The staff were very pleasant... More

My wife and I visited the Blue Ball whilst house hunting in Rutland. We were greeted by the bar man who stopped his conversation to welcome us which was a refreshing change!! We were asked if we would like to see the lunch menu and were also given the specials and baguette menu The food was as good as the... More

Booked this pub for a Sunday meal to finish off a long walk in the beautiful countryside close by. It was immediately welcoming (jazz trio playing in the bar) The selection of traditional beers and wines was very good. Although we arrived half an hour early we were immediately shown to our table highlighting the fact they don't try and... More

We came across this country pub following a walk over the Easter weekend at nearby Rutland Water. Fully agree with the reviews on here that say how welcoming it is. There was lots of choice and I would gladly have eaten anything placed in front of me - it all sounded so appealing. It being lunch time we kept it... More

The Blue Ball Pub is a lovely homely country pub. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent and beautifully cooked. The service was quick and staff attentive, food was reasonably priced and plentiful. This was our second visit and we will definitely return!
