I was working in Gloucester & wanted to stay a little further out - in commuter territory so as to explore the local countryside and to plan a possible relocation to the area due to circumstances. The Crown was/is a perfect location, 25/30 minutes max from the the Quays, 20/30 minutes from the NDAC (diving is a hobby) & 5... More

We booked a cottage near by for a weeks holiday and had dinner at the pub for the first night,it was fantastic. The greeting was great we were told to take our time choosing what we would like to eat and when it came the quality and quantity was of the first class. What made it even more enjoyable was... Looking for Sunday lunch on the way to Hereford today, had a great Carvery, just what we were looking for. Proper pub, old fashioned, could do with some tarting up but the real thing. Good value, good food, good choice.

From the moment my partner and I arrived to check in we were made to feel very welcome, the room was spotless, warm and the bed was comfy, facilities were excellent, the food was all home cooked and there was lots of it and it was always piping hot, we also had the carvery on Sunday lunch, there was 4... We tried this pub out for the first time. I've driven past loads of times but this time we decided to have a drink and ended up eating. A delight as a traditional pub with character that is cosy and interesting with hundred of years of history. The staff and locals could not have been more friendly and welcoming and... More

The Crown was almost next door to the cottage we were staying in and 5 of us went in there for Sunday lunch. The landlady, staff and customers were immediately friendly and chatty and the pub is a normal, ordinary pub, not like the sanitised, decor, franchised, menu and drinks of most pubs these days. Lunch was a magnificent carvery, with... More

We having been coming to the crown for a while now and the food have always been very good. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. But I must say they have excelled themselves since they have started their Carvery. It has a fantastic choice of veg and meats. (The Yorkshire pubs are to die for) Also caterers well... More

Ate here on our first night staying at the Orchard cottage and enjoyed a truly great (one of the best) carvery, (only served Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtime), all 7 of us including 4 kids left very satisfied and wanted to come back. We ate here again on our last night and again the food was excellent as was the... More

Not in many years have we arrived at a Pub for a meal.. There were 5 of us.. We firstly battled to get to the door as the steps at the car park entrance were full of men smoking and spilling larger on the steps.. On entering the pub.. NOT one person acknowledged us.. There was food left over from... More

Staying at an adjacent cottage for a week; we thought we'd try the local on our first evening. This is definitely a locals pub and not really geared up for visitors. We did not visit again after this first visit. Dogs are welcome and the pub dog is friendly. Shame the beer is Greene King and no variation. Had the... More

Hi there, thank you for your review. i am slightly puzzled by a couple of comments, firstly we dont have a pub dog, in fact we dont have any pets at all and secondly as we have four en-suite letting roomst we like to think of ourselves as catering for locals and visitors alike.
