Great traditional pub with wonderful people!

The pub itself is old and comfortable, providing the expected droughts and such, with good food (and large portions!) but the best part was most definitely the people. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. We don't go to the pub often, but when we do it will be back to The Crown!

Went here for a one night stay with my friend but as soon as you walked into the bar, it stunk of cigarette smoke and looked grubby. Used the one and only public toilet which was covered in thick layer of dust, dirty and the door lock didn't work! We were shown to our twin room which was a decent... More

Stayed in Lea for a few days over the bank holiday, and before travelling checked out the reviews for the Crown and was looking forward to spending a few nights in the bar and trying out the beer and food. Unfortunately it was not to be. Upon entering the pub I was taken back a decade by the rank smell... More

Called first night of our holiday and asked if we could bring in our puppy and was greated with of course you can. That set the tone for the rest of the holiday. We eat there 3 times that week, I think that says enough about the food the quality of the food and the enjoyable experience that we had.Certainty... More

I was working in Gloucester & wanted to stay a little further out - in commuter territory so as to explore the local countryside and to plan a possible relocation to the area due to circumstances. The Crown was/is a perfect location, 25/30 minutes max from the the Quays, 20/30 minutes from the NDAC (diving is a hobby) & 5... More

We booked a cottage near by for a weeks holiday and had dinner at the pub for the first night,it was fantastic. The greeting was great we were told to take our time choosing what we would like to eat and when it came the quality and quantity was of the first class. What made it even more enjoyable was... Looking for Sunday lunch on the way to Hereford today, had a great Carvery, just what we were looking for. Proper pub, old fashioned, could do with some tarting up but the real thing. Good value, good food, good choice.

From the moment my partner and I arrived to check in we were made to feel very welcome, the room was spotless, warm and the bed was comfy, facilities were excellent, the food was all home cooked and there was lots of it and it was always piping hot, we also had the carvery on Sunday lunch, there was 4... We tried this pub out for the first time. I've driven past loads of times but this time we decided to have a drink and ended up eating. A delight as a traditional pub with character that is cosy and interesting with hundred of years of history. The staff and locals could not have been more friendly and welcoming and... More

The Crown was almost next door to the cottage we were staying in and 5 of us went in there for Sunday lunch. The landlady, staff and customers were immediately friendly and chatty and the pub is a normal, ordinary pub, not like the sanitised, decor, franchised, menu and drinks of most pubs these days. Lunch was a magnificent carvery, with... More
