We tried this pub out for the first time. I've driven past loads of times but this time we decided to have a drink and ended up eating. A delight as a traditional pub with character that is cosy and interesting with hundred of years of history. The staff and locals could not have been more friendly and welcoming and... More

The Crown was almost next door to the cottage we were staying in and 5 of us went in there for Sunday lunch. The landlady, staff and customers were immediately friendly and chatty and the pub is a normal, ordinary pub, not like the sanitised, decor, franchised, menu and drinks of most pubs these days. Lunch was a magnificent carvery, with... More

We having been coming to the crown for a while now and the food have always been very good. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. But I must say they have excelled themselves since they have started their Carvery. It has a fantastic choice of veg and meats. (The Yorkshire pubs are to die for) Also caterers well... More

Ate here on our first night staying at the Orchard cottage and enjoyed a truly great (one of the best) carvery, (only served Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtime), all 7 of us including 4 kids left very satisfied and wanted to come back. We ate here again on our last night and again the food was excellent as was the... More

Not in many years have we arrived at a Pub for a meal.. There were 5 of us.. We firstly battled to get to the door as the steps at the car park entrance were full of men smoking and spilling larger on the steps.. On entering the pub.. NOT one person acknowledged us.. There was food left over from... More

Staying at an adjacent cottage for a week; we thought we'd try the local on our first evening. This is definitely a locals pub and not really geared up for visitors. We did not visit again after this first visit. Dogs are welcome and the pub dog is friendly. Shame the beer is Greene King and no variation. Had the... More

I called in here to try out the new carvery on 4th July 2014 as there is an introductory offer running for two or three weeks at the price of just £4.95 per head. Now at that price you would think that the portions would be small or cheap ingredients were being used,Believe me that is not so.The portions are... More

Good choice of food, Fine dining it is not, but if you want well presented, well cooked and fresh Pub food, this is the place for you. Portions were superb and the steaks were very tasty. The lads that served us were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. My only very slight criticism was the dog who was very friendly... More

Staff made us feel very welcome. The food was basic but and plentiful. I was especially impressed that I left my purse there and they kept it safe until I could return the next day to collect it. Once again, many thanks!!!

We came here for a Sunday roast and were not disappointed. The interior of the pub is lovely with a shabby chic edge.We had a starter and a roast dinner for £10,which you cannot go wrong for! The choice of starters was excellent,I had a prawn cocktail with rocket salad. The restaurant was very busy and the staff hard working. We will definitely... More
