Great old fashioned pub grub

We were staying locally and decided to try this pub for our evening meal. I went for the special pie (they change daily) and it was really tasty, it was full of tender beef and topped with a buttery shortcrust pastry. My ordered the fish pie & this was also packed full of salmon, cod & smoked... read more

I have just returned from dinner at the white lion which was sooo good! Massive portions of amazing home cooked favourites. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the pub has a lovely traditional feel to it. Will definitely be back!

we decided to go to this pub as I've not been there for 8 years. The food was absolutely amazing, good value and nice and hot. The staff were very pleasant and couldn't be more helpful. It was a lovely day, we went there two weeks last Sunday. There were white swans swimming in the river which is a fab... More

We decided to eat here as we were staying at a hotel close by and fancied a change. When we entered the pub we were greeted by a dog barking at us which my 2 year old didnt appreciate . Staff were not particularly friendly and then there was the food if you can call it that, wondered if we... More

Had lovely evening meal. Good was good and reasonable prices too. Staff were friendly and helpful, and helped with gluten free choices from menu.

The pub is in a lovely riverside location and looks great from the outside. The inside could do with a bit of a spruce up, but we had a lovely time. The beer is great and the food was very reasonably priced and enjoyable. It's nothing fancy, but having had steak in three other places nearby, the steak here was... More

We had been out for a few beers in Ross and Wye and decided it was best to leave the car and not drive. We had become hungry so wandered down to the Crown inn. This is a typical no nonsense pub – with good food, good beer and good wine – and at very reasonable prices. Looks great form... More

Not all places do food at lunchtime on a Monday - I rang 3 others first -I was meeting friends staying just two nights a few miles off and this was about halfway.. Person on phone said they only did sandwiches or jacket potatoes but this would have sufficed. However we were given a menu - very pleasant bar staff/waitress... More

We had a great evening at this restaurant last Saturday celebrating my brothers surprise 60th birthday. The staff were just wonderful and went above and beyond to make the evening special - thank you! The food was excellent value for money and couldn't fault it. If you are in Ross on Wye pay them a visit as you will love... More

Staff very friendly and food excellent, service excellent and good value. Stale smell in bar which is very tired and toilets clean but very outdated and smell of damp. The odour nearly made us leave but glad we stayed. Would be perfect if could sit outside on a summers day! Very pretty spot.
