Old Coaching Inn good for lunch

The bars are full of character - in the restaurant, which is the former watering and feeding area for coach horses, there is a deep well covered with a thick glass window, but lit so that customers can marvel at the drop. We were in a bit of a rush, on a limited lunch stop, so we were glad to... read more

Had lunch here. Fish & chips was alright but the mushy peas were horribly dried out. Drinks seemed expensive with not much change from £10 for two pints. Is that normal now?

Unfortunately it was raining quite heavily when we reached Ross on Wye so we quickly searched for somewhere to eat. The menu looked ok. The interior was drab and dingy. We had fish and chips which was dry and tasteless a pinch of salt and pepper wouldn't have gone amiss. We had to take out a second mortgage to cover... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry you felt your fish and chips needed seasoning. We do have salt and pepper on our bar tables and grinders in the restaurant. I'm also sorry you didn't appreciate the decor of the King's Bar, perhaps the unseasonal weather coloured your opinion. Any potential visitor can of... More

Near town center. Probably the best of the bunch. Decent menu and prices. Quirky service. Try the Charcuterie plate as a main.

An old coaching inn full of character. Room 10 which is a suite is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Private secure parking, good food, and creaking floors, I loved it. If you haven't booked in advance try through the tourist imformation, you may get a really good discount.

Every part of our meal had so much effort put in, vegy's were gorgeous, meringue in Eton Mess was homemade with real vanilla cream etc. Service was really friendly and restuarant very nice. Definitely be going again!!

Love this place, the queen size bed we had was so comfy, the rooms are clean and comfortable, it's our 3rd visit and each time we've had a different room, all of which were lovely, each one clean and comfortable, with quirky details, like sloping creaky floors, beams, open fireplaces's all the things that modern hotels can't replicate, lovely friendly... Called in one lunchtime while on hols because we knew it was the oldest Inn in town. Well the food was absolutely fantastic and amazing value for money, everything prepared freshly on the premises, bread baked every morning, marvellous.

I booked over the phone as there was no e-booking facility on their website, and when we got there they had no record of the booking. It was a busy Saturday night but they managed to squeeze us in. E-booking at least gives you a confirmation: it might be wise to confirm the booking on the day. Once there, the... More
