We visited this restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. Having eaten here on several previous occasions, I booked a table in the hotel restaurant. Whilst there are several rooms in which to dine in this hotel, the restaurant is more intimate and the high ceiling sets off the medieval features to good advantage. Car parking is good and the hotel... More

Ate in the dining room rather than the bar because it was quieter and you could book in advance. Needed disabled access. You can drive up to the front door and there is no step. Portable ramp from hallway into spacious dining room. Don't know about disabled toilets. Service was a little slow because they were very busy in the... More

After having had a wonderful morning out we decided to pop in and have a lunch with some friends. All four meals that were ordered were good but not exceptional and they weren't cheap! Staff were friendly and helpful. We had decided to eat in the conservatory as it was a lovely day but what a disappointment. The furniture, especially... More

Booked at short notice for Sunday lunch and they were able to cater for 18 of us, despite having 80 covers booked already. Hotel is wonderful and atmospheric and the good was tasty and good value. The puddings were particularly tasty.

Atmospheric - beautiful old Jacobean manor house, which once belonged to the founder of Toronto. Renovated to reflect the status of the house. Friendly staff and good food, reasonable priced. Try the Steak and Ale Pie.

The sandwiches were enormous due to the thickness of the bread. OK if you had a big appetite! The chips were good. Best to eat in the garden which is very well kept. There is not a lot of choice locally.

Our large family group made a visit to the hotel for a drink after a canoeing trip down the Wye. We all sat outside in the lovely garden. A great atmosphere! The bar staff were very happy to help and friendly. Did not try the food as it was late and we had already eaten.

The food was fantastic, there was a group of 9 and we all had a lovely lunch in their wonderful large beer garden at the back. I noticed there was also a slide for children. The staff were helpful and friendly. Really recommend this place.

Stopped in for a welcome cup of tea on a raining day and had a not bad cream tea and whilst this was pretty expensive the equally welcome WiFi came free.

A charming oldie worldy hotel set in its own grounds in the heart of The Forest of Dene and on the edge of the Welsh borders. A very comfortable hotel with lots of charm and very helpful staff. The bedrooms were spotlessly clean with every facility. The menu in the restaurant offered an excellent choice of traditional English and Welsh... More
