We went here for lunch and had a lovely time - we had the chicken with sweet chilli sauce baguettes (yummy) and as it was a sunny September afternoon we ate in the garden part of The Winking Prawn overlooking North Sands beach. It's a real tradition to come here for us whilst on holiday in Salcombe and as long... More

We visited salcombe whilst on a family break. The winking prawn couldn't be better placed and was really the only offering we could see. We arrived about 2pm and it was relatively busy. The menu had a good choice for lunch. The tables in the garden looked a little tired and all in all the place felt a little messy.... More

having arrived on North Sands by sailing boat, was going to have coffee etc,, but put off by queue down garden; seemed only to have 1 person taking orders & selling off-sales & 1 serving. Went back later for another try, but same situation ... so no coffee.

Great location and awesome atmosphere. It's all a bit pricy and the service can be hit and miss when heavily staffed by summer holiday teens but worth it. A great place to grab a quick bit or a full meal. The tent extension means the weather doesn't strain the seating like it used to. A Salcombe must!

Second time and didn't disappoint, has a great 'feel', next to the sea, close enough to feel like you have just stepped out of the water into the restaurant.. food is simple but well presented and tasty - never over complicated. Great cakes! and cookies to die for

I hope things have changed but I am still angry. Six years ago I had a "special" which was scallops with a sauce. I spent the whole of the next day on the loo. I rang the restaurant and spoke to the manager and told him that I was a GP and mentioned the above. His response was "What do... More

We came for an outdoor evening meal and enjoyed a generous portion of expertly barbecued seafood and steak with a tasty side salad and plenty of bread and new potatoes. Lovely to people watch and hear the waves as you eat. When it began to drizzle our thoughtful waitress immediately came over without any prompting and quickly helped us take... More

We went as a family for breakfast on Sunday. Just so easy, something for everyone on the hot buffet and local preserves for your toast. Very relaxed, nothing a problem, great value. Set us all up for a stress free day on the beach. Also free parking was a win!
