Returned after first visiting 6 years ago and yes it's changed. It was such a relaxing, fun, roomy place to eat with a very laid back atmosphere. But as with most special places they need the turnover, bums on seats, so we felt very squashed in. The food was nice though fresh prawns, delicious crab and lovely hot chips. The... More

I have loved the winking prawn for years - decades in fact but it is losing its sparkle. I very much doubt they know I have been visiting about 6 times a year for decades. There isn't the warm welcome you might hope for. Food is getting gradually pricier and is of average quality at best. Staff seem to be... More

This place came highly recommended as an alternative to the beach house at Milton sands and we had high hopes. Lovely location, lots of choice and well priced - very family friendly. The food however was very average - steak was over cooked and the quality of the meat was not great. Soup tasted like it came out of a... More

We go to the winking prawn every year, this year will be our last!! We had a rude waitress and the food was below standard bread was not that fresh. We was discussing that the cookies we purchased was over cooked & a waiter took it upon himself to butt in and be really irate about his burnt cookies!!! Learn... More

We love this place! So fresh and funky and right on North Sands. Couldn't ask for a better venue. The food is relaxed beachside Faye from whole fresh Salcombe crab to popcorn shrimp. Always a must visit when we are in the area. Great place, fab food, friendly service in a stunning location.

We stopped here for lunch on our walk back to our hotel from Salcombe. It was a little disappointing - our bucket of prawns had eggs in every single prawn and no finger bowl. Incredibly messy and not easy to deal with. Didn't live up to our expectations.

Most excellent breakfast, huge kipper and possibly the best scrambled eggs I have eaten, good coffee, sunshine and one of the best views in the country.

Great place for the young when visiting Salcombe. Real party atmosphere in the summer with good food and the chance to dress up. The BBQ meals outside are also great on a sunny day and the close proximity of the restaurant to the beach is great. Parking on site or next door at a price.
