Visited one evening and firstly the place is a shack by the beach serving proper fresh food and great service. It's not a top end resturant it but it delivers top end food. I had the prawns to start which were great and even better was the sand bucket I was given for the shells. A had the vegetarian option... More

Breakfast for two roughly £20 evening meal for two £70 <ok we did have steaks>These are London prices! Surf shack with classroom furniture,no bar as such but good location, would be busy in summer. Single track road from Salcombe is stressful!

After a long walk we stopped off here for a coffee & a sandwich. We ate outside as the weather was nice. Really lovely place to have a cafe.

Enjoyed a very tasty breakfast for a reasonable price. Nice atmosphere and can't fault the food, exactly what we needed to start the day.

Lovely sunny day. Very slow to get served, they were busy but more front of house staff needed. However, service was great once ordered. Superb crab sandwich.

Lovely little place to sit outside and have a coffee or a drink when the sun is shining and just chill out. About 15 minute walk over the hill from Salcombe town and probably very pretty at night in the restaurant. Would recommend walking rather than driving as the road is quite narrow and in the summer I would imagine... More

....cold overcast day...with two children under 3 we were permitted to buy drinks but only on the basis that we sat outside in the wind....we were told that this was because the restaurant was being cleaned. There were 3 couples sitting in the restaurant area having drinks. No evidence of any cleaning being done. I was mistaken in thinking this... More

Visited in May this year and had a good lunch, on our return today we had a poor lunch. The crab in brown bread had no butter on either slice, and a small amount of crab meat, the bread was almost see through. The white crab Baggett was also without any butter and a similar lack of crab meat, I... More

We visited with family for lunch. Have been here previously and weren't impressed but hoped it had improved. It was a beautiful day and the location is great but we were disappointed again with the food and service. One of us ordered prawns and they were un tasty small frozen ones which is shocking considering they are by the sea!!... More

The Winking Prawn has a fabulous location, by the seafront at Salcombe. However for my meal that I ordered for £18,95, it only took 5 bites to eat. Although the quality of the food is good, the portion size is horrendous for the price you pay. And don't be fooled by the 'Every meal comes with fries' caption at the... More
