The Victoria Inn has been run by Tim & Liz Hore since 2008. We pride ourselves on being a 'Traditional Pub, with Traditional Values'. It has this year (2014) been awarded the Taste of the West Gold Award - awarded for locality of produce used, ambiance and high standards of service. We are the only pub in the South Hams to hold this prestigious award. National finalists In Licensee of the Year, finalists in Devon Life Family Friendly Dining Establishment as well as previous Fish & Chip award finalists. We welcome children with their own menu selection of home cooked food and dogs with their own Al a Bark menu! A great place to share tasty food, with friends. It was such a treat to have so much choice for vegetarians. Thank you

Dear Antnest We so pleased you enjoyed your visit to the Vic and that our vegetarian options were so appreciated. We do work very hard to ensure we offer something very different from normal vegetarian offerings in pubs and many non vegetarians often choose from our veg options! We look forward to welcoming you back again very soon, Best wishes... More

Well a bit DISAPOINTED to be honest after reading the reviews on here we thought we would give it a try nice little place and very friend staff parking a nightmare but we got over that was looking forward to a really good Sunday lunch on the 1st march I had pork and the the other 2 ladies had lamb... Dear HelenH Oh dear, it's also very disappointing for us when guests don't leave us fully satisfied and happy. I've spoken to the Manager who was leading our team on Sunday and she remembers having served you and looked after you. She has advised me that you had no criticism at the time and recalls you ate all that was... More

Dear Morgans 369 How lovely to see that you enjoyed your visit to our pub and we're delighted that you liked our offering for the dogs! Can I just say though that we are doing this for the Hearing Dogs Charity and have so far raised in excess of £1,000. We hope you will come back again very soon, Best... More

We went to Salcombe for lunch at the Vic. We had a lovely lunch. We would have recommended the Victora to anyone until we tried to return for dinner on the same evening. My husband went to the bar and was refused service on the grounds of being drunk. This was not the case, we had had a couple of... More

Dear sklitch I am pleased you enjoyed your lunch with us and that you consider us to be a pub that you would recommend to anyone. However, the fact remains that my General Manager made the decision to not serve your partner because of drunkenness. Under licensing law we are not allowed to serve alcohol to anyone we consider to... More

We went on a very busy Saturday night, we couldnt get in at two other Salcombe restaurants. A table of 4 was found for us by the manager, on the provisio that we vacated it in time for the people that had booked it later in the evening. The food and service was good: slick and well orchestrated - on... More

Located opposite the car park. Great friendly place to take your dog(and a husband crèche). With dog blankets, dog menu etc. our westie loved it. The two humans shared a large fish platter with Salcombe white crab meat, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, dill mayo, salad and olive bread. Delicious. Busy and nice atmosphere. Bet it's heaving in the summer but... More

Dear lovemyholidays46 We're so glad you chose the Victoria Inn to have lunch in with your little dog, and that you ALL enjoyed it. You had one of our best selling dishes - The Seafood Platter, and its nice to see that you appreciated its luscious contents! You're right about us being so busy in the summer, but we have... More

A lovely cosy pub and a wet windy day. We only wanted a snack, and shared the meat platter with a side of cheesy chips. Lovely pork belly and sausages, slightly disappointed by the terrine, but nothing to complain about. Great service and very family friendly, my 7yr old loved her open sandwich. I can imagine it gets very busy... More

Dear CarolineR How lovely of you to write such a great review and that we were able to meet your expectations - but I would have been interested to know your thoughts on a 'slightly disappointing Terrine' so that we could make any differences taste wise if required?? However, that aside, we're delighted you had a great visit and we... More

Had our lunch here on a windy rainy day. Nice welcome from the staff behind the bar. The ham and the crab open sandwiches were superb. Washed down with some good local beer. My only critique, which could also be classed as a good thing, was that all the waiting staff would be constantly checking the table for things to... More

Dear Chispee Sadly Salcombe is not always sunny but I'm glad you found refuge in our beautiful pub. Also, thank you for your comment on the table clearing, it was obviously not as discreet as we would wish it to be. There is certainly (not at this time of the year anyway!!) no reason to have tables turned around quickly... More

Ideally located, cozy Pub in centre of Salcombe. It is quite welcoming inside with open fire and plenty of seating, although I am sure it gets packed in the high season. The menu is varied and as one of our party is coeliac, they ensured the meal selected was suitable both on ordering and came back after serving to ensure... More
