Would definitely recommend a visit ... and remember to book !

During a recent stay in Salcombe, we dined twice at The Victoria and both times it was a great experience. We tried a range of dishes between us and all were substantial portions, nicely presented and very tasty. The crab bisque, seafood and burgers were particularly good. Even though it was... read more

Nothing exciting here. Basic food and reasonable value. Excellent service and welcome which cannot be faulted but food failed to live up to the level suggested by some other reviewers.

Dear Jason_Tillyard So pleased you found our welcome & service so brilliant, but I wonder where we didn't do so well in your eyes as far as the food was concerned? You're right - we have many, many happy people who love our food, so I'm sorry you found nothing to your liking. I'd love you to contact me to... More

Good beer (Proper Job) in a great, well kept pub with super food. We had the ploughmans today. If in Salcombe don't miss out on this great pub. There is a fantastic beer garden, dog and child friendly which is a hidden gem.

Lovely woody cosy feel to the pub. Dog menu. Classic fish stew was delicious. ....spicy with a generous dollop of creme fraiche. My mum was offered a tipple on the house as it was her birthday.

We popped in for a pre dinner drink one evening while staying in Salcombe and were so impressed with the friendly service and great looking food, we decided to stay. So pleased that we did, they were so helpful finding us a table on a rainy Friday night for 4 and the food was as good as it looked. We... More

Now I'm one of those increasingly rare visitors to Salcombe who actually thinks value for money is something of importance. There are plenty of establishments in the town who, having realised that £20 for a main dish is about the limit folk will stomach (excuse the pun) this year, have cut portion sizes to the point that a family of... Dear markandkit Thank you so much for your review and we're really bowled over by your comments. We try really hard to keep our prices reasonable - in fact we haven't had a price increases for some of our items like Fish & Chips or Burger and curry for at least 2 years - possibly three. Yes, we do welcome... More

The pub was clearly very busy but the service was exceptional. We had to slightly rush our meal in order to catch the last water taxi, but the pub was very obliging about that. My crab salad was a little disappointing. It was not presented in a shell - just flaked over a bed of salad. The others had fish... More

Lindaofbuckingham I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to our pub and that you thought the service you received was so exceptional. Just a comment about your Crab Salad. We did try selling Crab in the crab shells, but in all honesty we thought the price we had to sell them at (because the are pricey for us to buy) to... More

The landlord was so warm and welcoming as soon as we walked through the door and made us feel very comfortable. The atmosphere in the pub is absolutely fantastic obviously due in no small part to the landlord, plus staff were also excellent and very friendly, especially the young man with the great sense of humour! Food was absolutely delicious... More
