This place just keeps going with some of the best food in a small restaurant you're ever likely to get.
We recently visited Gorton's Restaurant for lunch as it was my birthday. The ladies who welcomed and served us were lovely. The food was fantastic and service was warm, friendly and professional. Would recommend a visit. I wish it had been a little warmer in the restaurant but it would not deter me from visiting again and in no way... More
A truly wonderful evening spent here. The restaurant is small and intimate. The staff are attentive without being intrusive. I now come onto the best part' the food' . The meal was simply exquisite, everything cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Well worth the money.
Beautifully cooked tasty dishes, excellent local produce all enjoyed in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The service was by a charming French lady, efficient but not intrusive. Peter Gorton is no stranger to us as we have lived in Tavistock for some time and have witnessed his expertise at various food events in Devon where his demonstrations are always excellent. Most... We had lunch at Gorton's. The menu was interesting and varied with two courses costing £19.50. This is perhaps a little overpriced although bread and an amuse bouche are included. The restaurant is small so do book. I liked the decor though the canvas prints of Dartmoor don't fit in. I'm also happy to dine without music. There was plenty... More
Went to Gorton's for the first time last night. The restaurant is not huge (guess about 10 tables) and all the better for that. A lovely relaxed, friendly atmosphere with very good staff. The food was wonderful, wine very good and service attentive without being intrusive. Will certainly be back..
Lovely lovely to experience absolutely first rate food. Every mouthful deserved full attention as it was so beautifully created. Good wines, great service and elegant but friendly ambiance, plus we could park right outside the door! A real delight. We are looking forward to a return visit. The selection of puds were the crowning glory - am still trying to... More

I am so glad we did , the food was scrumptious , beautifully presented and served by a warm... More
My girlfriend and I were recommended Gorton's restaurant as somewhere with top food and it didn't disappoint!!The staff were excellent as was the food and we are already planning a return. Would highly recommend.
We went for a romantic meal for two on our wedding anniversary. Table booked for 8pm, shown to our table ,ate meal and getting in a taxi to go home at 9.30 !!!!! We were rushed from the moment we arrived. Food may have been good, we wouldn't,t know, we were not given time to enjoy and savour, the staff... More
Sorry you felt disappointed with your recent visit to my restaurant, I’d like to reply to your review. My restaurant should have been almost full that evening but due to the bad weather conditions and sickness I had three lots of tables cancel, I’m sure I was not the only business to have this happen too! I’d also like to... More
