We have Sunday lunch at The Dolphin whenever the weather's fine and we're on the river (it's four hours downstream from Abingdon). This last time didn't disappoint. Three or four thick slices of deliciously tender beef in gravy with yorkshire pudding arrived first. Then a massive bowl of vegetables (peas, carrots, french beans and roast potatoes) enough for four (there... More

Yet another delicious and filling lunch enjoyed with my Mum and Aunt. So many choices with specials and very tempting desserts. Have never found the Dolphin empty, most of the time you need to reserve a table or wait for one. Great value for money.

I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality and variety of food and the venue itself. I had a preconceived idea that it would be a 'mans' pub with football fans etc but it was anything but and had a family friendly atmosphere and a quiet eating room separate from the bar. This was a Sat lunchtime, very convenient to... More

You really do get what you pay for some good honest pub food in a simple pub design. The food is stereotypical pub food so you know what you are getting. They are also not stingy on the cheese which is something I appreciate a lot! The portions are just right as well not too big and not too small... More

This is a gem.The best breakfasts(and other food)in a lovely well looked after pub in the centre. As people leave after eating, the tables are immediately cleared and cleaned-with a fresh cloth, not the multiples manky one that makes the table stink. The pride comes through. The staff are good, efficient and friendly.Good beers."Comfortable" sounds like a cardigan but this pub is just like an oasis... I was staying in the Wallingford area this week and we were recommended The Dolphin for good but reasonable priced food. This is a great understatement, the food was fantastic and the price was very, very, reasonable, I know where we will be eating next time we are in Wallingford.

Arrived here for a bite to eat with a few friends. The bar and dining area were both fairly busy however we decided to stick around and order anyway. The menu sounded delicious so all decided to have the soup of the day and then a main course. The soup arrived after about 15 mins which concidering they were busy... More

In the past this pub in the centre of Wallingford offered a warm hearty welcome, fire would be blazing away and that was enough with that glow to make one feel, this is an ok place to be. Not so today. First off the fire was not lit, secondly, the radiators were stone cold and in fact the place was... More
