This pub is a 'must visit' if you are visiting Wallingford to witness its many charms. Set on a riverside location right next to historic Wallingford Bridge this pub offers good food and very inexpensive lagers, in fact the cheapest in the area! There is nothing better than sitting on the riverside patio on a Summer's evening, with the chance... More

To put it simply the boat house has changed hands and every now and then they get it just right but as with all places it comes and goes but this recent visit just shown myself and my friends that it's good. Originally grabbing food - wild boar burger - we were greeted by the staff (blonde hair woman) who... More

We went to the Boathouse for lunch and were told that there would be a 40 minute wait for food. We decided to wait but the food did not arrive until an hour later. The food itself was fresh and very good in particular the steak and kidney pie which was excellent , lovely shortcrust pastry and a generous filling.... More

I think this place has recently been turned around, sounds like it used to be pretty bad. The staff couldn't be keener or more enthusiastic, I would be so proud of them if I was their boss. We had a lovely time watching the boats mooring along the river (several near disasters!) The food was good and the specials were... More

in the last month have been here twice ( used to go regularly but hadnt been back for 3-4mths) the first time we noticed the pub had changed hands, it was a hot day, and being next to the river fairly busy, we found a seat, chose something from A very much reduced menu from previous visits, and went to... I've lived in the Wallingford area for nearly 8 years, but despite The Boathouse's idyllic setting on there Thames next to the old arched bridge in Wallingford, my wife [who is local] never wanted to go to this pub, which had a reputation for being rough. In the last month, we've visited it twice, once for an 18th birthday party... More

We were looking for a suitable feeding hole in Wallingford at around 19h30 on a Saturday evening. The Partridge would have been our first choice but it was fully booked, an Italian called Avanti (I think) was second choice but they too were too busy so we ended up at the Boat House. They were very short staffed (the Manager... More
