Great for youngsters at night but coffee for anyone in the day

We walked past this around 9pm on a Friday night and the youngsters were queuing to get in. Looked trendy and the bouncers had everyone behaving so no noise or bad behaviour. The following morning we walked past and there were tables outside and people drinking coffee so went in. It was lovely... read more

Good quality food and service at a reasonable price. The post Office also offers tea/coffee if you are not looking for a meal.

We stumbled on this restaurant on a Sunday evening. Complete accident but we decided to give it a go. They had been busy all day and some of the dishes were not available but we were happy to compromise as it had a great atmosphere. Towards the end of the night things got rowdy in the bar area.....just a bit... More

Hi 1401jillyc, Apologies for the bar rowdiness. It's not something that happens often at the Old Post Office and I'm sorry if it impacted upon your visit. It's worth noting that we've launched a menu since your visit. We're pretty happy with it ourselves, but it would be great if you could manage to come along and give us your... More

Fantastic time had by all! Only a quick visit during our recent family pub crawl but a memorable one. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic old building and bar staff very welcoming. Bar staff very friendly making cocktails that were not on the set menu but willing to take our requests. Great mode lighting! Highly recommended.

Eat on Friday And Saturday night, very busy both nights staff coped very well and the menu extensive enough to cope with two visits so close together. Open plan kitchen can be a bit too much but ok I suppose if you like that sort of thing. Generally food very reasonably priced although we thought the fillet steak a bit... More

Dear ImOff2theBeach, It's great see you visiting twice in quick succession! We do find that the Open Kitchen works for us. Part of our ethos is having everything on display to give our guests confidence in what we do. Nothing is hidden away. Everything can be scrutinised. The fillet steak is sourced from Aubrey Allen, one of the finest in... More

The building and its modern/retro/industrial make over is fab. Really nice setting, good staff. Food was really good, apart from the Ceasar salad dressing, which had no flavour what so ever! Will return when in the area.

Hi there Lindlou6, Really great to see praise for the Team. They work their socks to ensure that every one of our guests are made to feel special when they visit. I'm a little concerned to read of your dissatisfaction with the Caesar dressing and apologise for it. It's made in house and I must admit that it's not a... More

We had a pre theatre dinner on Saturday night. Staff were very friendly and helpful although I am still not sure about the ambiance in the place - The restaurant has a little of a canteen feel. The food was quite good but I felt a little cheated - The menu was quite clear that it was slow cooked Lamb... More

Hi dlfoodie2014, We are thoroughly pleased to hear that your food was tasty. I'm afraid to say that the dish you received was indeed a lamb shoulder. The bone of the shoulder if left in and roasted with the meat, giving the appearance of a shank - a cut taken from below the knee. You might like to know that... More

My daughter and I had lunch here today. We had the pork roast which was absolutely delicious. Everything perfect - service, pork belly and the veggies were beuatifully cooked - apart from the roast potatoes. They were not crispy or browned but were tasty.

Oh, Woowoo77! We're so sorry about your roasties weren't up to scratch. If we had known at the time we would have been really happy to cook you some more - perfectly golden, perfectly crispy, perfectly roastie. Perhaps we can tempt you back this weekend? More

This pub/restaurant is in a really lovely building in the centre of Wallingford - great for drinks (be that morning coffee or pre-dinner cocktails) and then great food. I was truly tempted by the pork belly and chicken scratching nibbles... but instead went for the more substantial bruschetta, while my partner went for the very acceptable smoked salmon. On another... More

Apologies for those early errors, Steve. But we're pleased to hear that we corrected them quickly and to your satisfaction. Love to hear that you enjoyed spending time in our restaurant. When we first bought the site we worked really hard to open up this old posting house to become a modern, airy restaurant. That was back in 2009 and... More
