Decent food - uncomfortable service

Visited here with my husband, got told waiting time for a table would be 25-40mins, was shown to a table within half an hour, the service up to then was really good Our waiter then presented himself to us, a bit too overly friendly and made us feel a little uncomfortable calling is both 'guys... read more

My wife and myself are regular visitors to the stonecross especially for lunch and the menus are wide and varied in choice. An excellent value choice is the daytime menu which offers various food choices at less than the cost of the evening menu. We can recommend the Thai green curry which is top quality and quite filling for lunch... More

Here on business and popped in after a long drive. Service was good, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Was seated straight away, ordered & it came out within 10 - 15 mins. I had a salmon salad & it was exactly as the menu described & was really nice. All in all, can't complain... Very nice.

Terrible service, the sever was a young girl called Kelly, we arrived and were shown to our table. Not even given a chance to consult the meals menu before being asked what we wanted to drink! (If we had been given a chance we probably would have ordered wine as the meal was part of a birthday celebration). It just... More

Came here for birthday meal and what can I say, half of the menu was not even available. Everything we order came out with substituted food as they ran out. No coke was available. A fish pie had no fish in it please dont recommend this meal at all. Kids desserts came out missing items as they ran out. No... More

As regular visitors to the Stonecross , we were invited to an new winter menu food tasting night . My wife and I reserved our place and arrived to be shown to our table with a complimentary glass of wine each. Other diners arrived for the food tasting approximately 10 in total and we sampled beef and merlot, chicken and... More

Visited with a friend mid week, it was by no means full but we had to wait a little while for a table to be cleared. Not much choice of vegetarian starters, I had the trio of bread. The bread was okay but the oil was vile, tasted like bad fat! The garlic dip was lovely though. Mains were really... More

Not really sure how to describe this, as this is one of the worst meals ever. Party of 6 and we ordered the sharing platters at £9 each. Everything on the plate was over cooked and tasted the same, could barely tell the difference between a prawn or a mushroom. It was so poorly presented we couldn't believe it. Two... More

Decided to give this place a go, when we walked in there was a bit of confusion as to whether to seat yourselves or wait to be seated. A waiter eventually showed us to seats, all if our servers (we had 3!) were friendly, food was served quickly enough but wasn't made from scratch on the premises as the menu... More

My family and I visited for an early lunch on New Year's Eve. It was quite quiet but we were still waiting for our lunch 50 minutes after being seated. We had our (almost)3 year old son with us so he was bored and hungry. The meal was very average, the service was below average. I wouldn't recommend. I won't be... More
