No complaints...this time..

Cold potatoes overdone very fatty steak for one and underdone for the other diner. Waited 45 mins for starter and 20 mins for any attention and a drink. Food tasted as though cooked on dirty grill. No charge for main course as compensation. Had to go home and eat toast.

This isn't too bad, its a corporate pub sadly, not privately owned so menu predictable. If its busy, the wait is around 40-50 mins but if not around 20. We usually have steak and I've had anything from a rubber tyre type steak to a juicy tender one - it seems to be pot luck. The pub is ok and... More

Four of us and two dogs stopped here for lunch to see what the food was like as we wanted to book an 80th birthday celebration. We tried dished from both the lunch and the main menu and all were very good and easy. Highly recommend the beetroot salad and the seabass and scallop risotto. We subsequently booked lunch for... Lovely building, part of the Chef and Brewer group. We have been coming here every few months since 2006. Quality varies, there is only a small kitchen, and often it has struggled to cope with demand. On several occasions it has only operated a condensed menu as someone further up the food chain(sorry!) has made the decision to concentrate on... More

...but not as we know it. Went here for Sunday lunch, we all had roasts, roast pork, trio of roasts, slow cooked pork belly and slow cooked rib of beef. We didn't have sky high expectations (this is a chain pub - Chef & Brewer) but were nevertheless thoroughly underwhelmed by the food, the decor and the atmosphere. Our table... More

We called on NYE at 8pm as our host/cook for lunch was ill and had to cancel the family meal. 10 family members including 2 year old twins were welcomed and everyone enjoyed their food from the substantial menu, excellent real ale and friendly service, thank you

Sad to say my 2nd review is not so positive as the last one. Harvey's ale continues to be good, but the restaurant was sadly lacking. Took some while (20 mins) and anxious looks to get our order taken. Took considerably longer for it to arrive, 30 mins. Could have lived with this if what was served was good, but... More
