I walked into the Mandeville and the greeting that I got was so friendly that I went home that day thinking they had mistaken me for someone else because the welcome was so good. But no, I now go regularly even though I walk 2-3 miles to get there and I know its a genuine warmness of the owners. Food... more

Whilst staying in a nearby village in July, the Mandeville Arms was recommended to us by our b'n'b hosts. We definitely were not disappointed. It is located in a tiny village that would not be on your typical tourist trail. It looks like an English country pub but the food is superb. The night we were there was quiet so... more

The Mandeville Arms is a very promising, exciting pub with oodles of potential. The owners are friendly, welcoming, informative and genuinely passinate about the food and drinks they serve. On arrival I was greeted warmly and offered a drink staright away. There was no pressure to make a hurried decision and I was able to talk about the choice of... more

We went to the Mandeville Arms with an open mind, aware that the change of ownership was not popular with the locals, but hoped they would be proved wrong. Sadly we won't be going back. This is no gastropub - it tries to combine the atmosphere of a fine dining restaurant with the welcome and earthiness of a village local,... more

First visited in December 08 with a friend whilst my husband was abroad and promised to go back as it was so lovely. We returned on Jan 17 09, firstly we were delighted that it was open in January, most of my favourite eating places close in Jan and secondly it was as good as the first time. The menu... more

This establishment has aparently changed hands fairly recenty and some of the locals may well feel that there has been a shift in emphaisis from offering "a good pint and copious portions of food" to "quality local beverages and fine dining" but what, I ask, is wrong with that. The owners have made a clear statement through the menu regarding... more

I recently went to the Mandeville Arms with my family for a pre-christmas meal. We had heard they they had won awards and we were all much looking forward to it. We were all extremely disappointed and I felt I had to write this review. The menu was very small and there was only a choice of 4 dishes (none... more

Having visited my parents who have lived in the village for several years I am very disappointed with the new management who have been running the pub since the spring. I used to really enjoy coming down from London and having a family meal in this once friendly and welcoming pub. The old management used to serve great local food... more
