Great food, cold atmosphere, takeaway recommended

The food here is great, the atmosphere in the restaurant is a little cold and the place itself is a little bit cramped. Takeaways are fantastic though

I like Indian takeaway in a sort of mushy convenient way. Viceroy is different. Perfectly cooked delicious flavours and polite service. They care about quality. I ate at restaurant a couple of years ago which was a cut above and, now I'm local, it's top of my list.

We were down to stay with friend for the weekend, and fancied a curry. Our friends are local, and chose the Viceroy. The decor is bright and modern, and the menu extensive. One of us fancied the rabbit curry, and was very disappointed that they didn't have any. However, the waiter asked what sort of curry did he like, and... More

Nothing Salubrious about restaurant yet charging Dorchester prices.. My curry was truly bland so already resolved not to return. Beware of ordering anything other than tap water to drink- `Pepsi` was flat and asked to pay £3·50 for soda water and lime! I certainly won't be returning and would advise others to give Viceroy a wide berth.

Excellent food served in a pleasant, bright setting with attentive and friendly service. I had a chicken dish and a side order of aubergines - a curry of course but I forget the exact name - I have probably eaten well over a thousand Indian restaurant meals over the past 50+ years in, perhaps, ten different countries and this was... Stopping nearby and dropped in on a Saturday evening on the off chance. The restaurant was already busy ( 6.30pm) but they seated us without hesitation. The restaurant seated approximately 20 to 30 people and was light and modern in decor. Poppadoms and mixed salads soon arrived. The menu was what you would expect plus some unusual items. My husband... More

Our party consisted of 7 adults and 2 children, joining together for a meal for my daughters 8th birthday. We then grew in number to 11, accommodated without any problems at all. We were served in a polite, attentive manner, the food was really lovely and we left with a very happy little girl.

I used to go here more regularly but moved away a few years ago. This is the restaurant I always want to go to when I visit Yeovil. The staff are always so attentive and respectful of allergies, and the food is always excellently prepared and presented and is very tasty with good size portions. I came here again recently... whilst I was staying in Yeovil I didn't want to live off Tesco's so I asked for some recommendations and the Viceroy was always mentioned - with good reason! Upon entering I was welcomed and brought to a nicely laid table with good quality cloth and cutlery. The menu was handed and immediatly I was in trouble - but only... More
