Pulled out all the stops

This was a return visit to what has always been a good fallback pub for me. I was passing by, hungry, and in need of a good pint! Sadly the normal chef wasn't in residence as he'd gone back to Portugal to tend to a sick relative, however the landlord had taken up the mantle of chef and I was... read more

Did a walk from Egerton today and intended to call in at the Swan en route. On arrival discovered it was closed with no notice of explanation, despite it saying online that it was open all day. Looked very closed, all curtains and blinds closed. Reckon they had cleared off on holiday as they had arranged for someone to come... More

A group of us were out for a long Sunday walk and had planned to stop off here for a lunchtime drink and something to eat. It started to rain just before we arrived so we were looking forward to getting into the dry for a while, and were feeling rather hungry and thirsty. We were VERY dissapointed to find the... More

Having heard that the Swan Inn had reopened, decided to walk there for lunch last Tuesday and after walking for nearly an hour we were told that the kitchen was closed. They offered sandwiches and baguettes which we reluctantly ordered and wished we hadn't. Cheese sandwich consisted of dry cheap white bread, lump of cheese in middle no spread or... More

Arrived here just before official closing time in kitchen. No problem with staff who produced excellent home cooked meal. Good specials board and varied but reasonably priced menu. Thoroughly recommended.

Great food, great beer from the Old Dairy Brewery, amazing desserts, very welcoming to our month-old baby and all this in spite of delivery problems due to Operation Stack.

Having enjoyed a light lunch and drinks here in June we booked a table for six for birthday celebrations for last evening at 8pm, but when we turned up the pub was closed. The "Open Seven Days A Week" notice was still out, however! The notice has gone today and the pub still closed. We had been looking forward to... More

Was very pleasantly surprised and impressed by the quality and exceptional presentation of our 3 course evening meal - worthy of any 'fine dining' restaurant! Meal was competitivley priced offering very good value for money. Would definately recommend. Would love to see a little more choice for the lunch menu.

A repeat visit for me. The pub is currently undergoing some renovation and improvement works so only one of the two bars is open at the moment but don't let that put you off. The restaurant is open and the beer is flowing! Old Dairy Summer Top and Red Top on draught and Tonbridge Brewery Rustic to boot! The bar... More

We dropped in here for a drink (and possibly lunch) when out for a brief walk with friends who live locally near to Pluckley. I gather that the pub has changed hands recently and there was quite a lot of work going on, so my guess is that the pub is in transition and so difficult to judge properly. We... More
