Description: In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs sits a gem of an inn, The Honest Miller. This village inn, built in 1609, was for many years a meeting place for countrymen out pigeon shooting and hare coursing. It was also where the local hunt would meet, waiting on horseback to receive their mulled wine and spirits.Today, in this historic atmosphere, the attractions are a little different. Sit in the beautiful old English beer garden sipping quality real ale, or enjoy a ploughman’s lunch among the free range chickens. The beer garden is ideal for children, with a resident Shetland pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and ducks.Inside, the inn oozes charm, with an open log fire and friendly welcome. It’s a romantic spot for couples to enjoy a candlelit dinner. Walkers and cyclists are also valued customers, along with their dogs. The kitchen is the hearts of this place – you need look no further for a superior home-made meal. Melt-in-the-mouth Romney Marsh lamb shanks, slow roasted and served with leek and rosemary gravy are just one of the delights on offer. Start with roasted butternut & vegetable soup, or creamy goat’s cheese with roasted peppers. Try our rack of Pork belly ribs with hickory barbecue sauce and homemade chips or Haddock with a mature cheddar & herb crumble topping. Desserts include Italian tiramisu, with Madeira and mascarpone, apple blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.

Had a lovely meal for 2 on the Tuesday after Christmas; lovely homely atmosphere, chatty barman and varied menu. Starter of whitebait was a good size and came with a very nice side salad. Main courses of chicken in mushroom sauce was tender and obviously freshly prepared. The chef was willing to adapt the dish to cater for our specific... More

Starters were very nice as were the main courses, braised beef was delicious. Real ales were good as well - well kept.... we... More

The Honest Miller is the most accommodating pub/restaurant that my family and I have ever been to. 2 of the family have intolerances (one has a dairy intolerance and one has a wheat/gluten intolerance). I phoned on the day of my daughter's birthday to see what may be suitable on the menu; by far the most helpful person/chef. He was... More

The Honest Miller has provided a great meal at an honest price. The pork bellie was super and the dauphinois potato dish hit the spot on a cold December evening. The log burning stove glowed to warm the good feelings and experience. Brothers Steve and Lee are working hard to make the Honest Miller a welcome hotspot to the Kent... More

2 brothers have recently taken over the Honest Miller, and it is clear they are passionate about serving proper home made food! We both tried the steak burger, wow! A proper, dense burger, no grease, delicious! Served in a tasty bun with cheese and bacon, a large onion ring, fresh salad and tasty chips! We shared the Bakewell tart for... More
