Description: In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs...
In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs sits a gem of an inn, The Honest Miller. This village inn, built in 1609, was for many years a meeting place for countrymen out pigeon shooting and hare coursing. It was also where the local hunt would meet, waiting on horseback to receive their mulled wine and spirits.Today, in this historic atmosphere, the attractions are a little different. Sit in the beautiful old English beer garden sipping quality real ale, or enjoy a ploughman’s lunch among the free range chickens. The beer garden is ideal for children, with a resident Shetland pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and ducks.Inside, the inn oozes charm, with an open log fire and friendly welcome. It’s a romantic spot for couples to enjoy a candlelit dinner. Walkers and cyclists are also valued customers, along with their dogs. The kitchen is the hearts of this place – you need look no further for a superior home-made meal. Melt-in-the-mouth Romney Marsh lamb shanks, slow roasted and served with leek and rosemary gravy are just one of the delights on offer. Start with roasted butternut & vegetable soup, or creamy goat’s cheese with roasted peppers. Try our rack of Pork belly ribs with hickory barbecue sauce and homemade chips or Haddock with a mature cheddar & herb crumble topping. Desserts include Italian tiramisu, with Madeira and mascarpone, apple blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.

Incredible venue for a function

We booked the Honest Miller for our wedding after-bit. The managers are incredibly friendly and accommodating- the staff were amazing and upbeat through out. The food was delicious (especially the brownies) and we are so grateful for how much effort they put in to make our big day so special. If... read more

Well worth a visit now it is under new management!! Food was good with ample portions and all sourced locally. Atmosphere was pleasant with great service. The new owners are very friendly and I would recommend a visit. Either for an evening meal or if you are walking in the summer in the area a beer in the garden!

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to book for a family meal, as we are always on the look out for nice local pubs serving good homemade food... And we really weren't disappointed. The bar staff were incredibly friendly without being overbearing and nothing was too much trouble. As for the food it was quite simply delicious... the... More

Went for lunch . We where made very welcome a nice atmosphere with a lovely warm fire on a very cold day . The food was very good , obviously home made & beautifully presented at a very reasonable price we will be returning very soon ( to be recommended are the triple cooked chips & the lemon posset)

Had a lovely meal for 2 on the Tuesday after Christmas; lovely homely atmosphere, chatty barman and varied menu. Starter of whitebait was a good size and came with a very nice side salad. Main courses of chicken in mushroom sauce was tender and obviously freshly prepared. The chef was willing to adapt the dish to cater for our specific... More

The Honest Miller is the most accommodating pub/restaurant that my family and I have ever been to. 2 of the family have intolerances (one has a dairy intolerance and one has a wheat/gluten intolerance). I phoned on the day of my daughter's birthday to see what may be suitable on the menu; by far the most helpful person/chef. He was... More
