Description: In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs...
In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs sits a gem of an inn, The Honest Miller. This village inn, built in 1609, was for many years a meeting place for countrymen out pigeon shooting and hare coursing. It was also where the local hunt would meet, waiting on horseback to receive their mulled wine and spirits.Today, in this historic atmosphere, the attractions are a little different. Sit in the beautiful old English beer garden sipping quality real ale, or enjoy a ploughman’s lunch among the free range chickens. The beer garden is ideal for children, with a resident Shetland pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and ducks.Inside, the inn oozes charm, with an open log fire and friendly welcome. It’s a romantic spot for couples to enjoy a candlelit dinner. Walkers and cyclists are also valued customers, along with their dogs. The kitchen is the hearts of this place – you need look no further for a superior home-made meal. Melt-in-the-mouth Romney Marsh lamb shanks, slow roasted and served with leek and rosemary gravy are just one of the delights on offer. Start with roasted butternut & vegetable soup, or creamy goat’s cheese with roasted peppers. Try our rack of Pork belly ribs with hickory barbecue sauce and homemade chips or Haddock with a mature cheddar & herb crumble topping. Desserts include Italian tiramisu, with Madeira and mascarpone, apple blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.

We choose the Honest Miller for a special anniversary meal and weren't disappointed. The pub is in a great location within the picturesque village of Brook. Inside, the decor is minimal but brings the outdoors in. When entering the pub we were informed that food didn't start for another 45 mins but the bartender said he would ask the chef... More

Staff seemed very determined to ensure we had a very pleasant meal, treating us as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. They were very happy to meet special dietary needs (which they had not been pre warned about). Food was great and the service speedy and attentive.

I know it was a busy Mothering Sunday and we were prepared for a bit of give and take. Earlier in the week on booking we had been told that the table would not be free until 3 pm but we did not actually get served until 4.30 - and the roast beef and roast potatoes had run out. By... More

We are extremely disappointed your visit was not up to our usual high standard. We endeavour to ensure each customer is well looked after. As we continue to grow we are indeed looking to increase our work force to meet the demand. I can only apologise that the dish of your choice had sold out upon ordering. It can be... More

friendly, lovely atmosphere and great food - perfect eating and drinking stop walking in lovely Kent countryside. Off the beaten track but definately worth the effort to find it. Try walking from Wye along the downs and stopping for lunch - then it's easy back across the fields to Wye. This place is a gem.

We booked the Honest Miller for our wedding after-bit. The managers are incredibly friendly and accommodating- the staff were amazing and upbeat through out. The food was delicious (especially the brownies) and we are so grateful for how much effort they put in to make our big day so special. If you are looking for a venue for any party... More

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to book for a family meal, as we are always on the look out for nice local pubs serving good homemade food... And we really weren't disappointed. The bar staff were incredibly friendly without being overbearing and nothing was too much trouble. As for the food it was quite simply delicious... the... More

Had a lovely meal for 2 on the Tuesday after Christmas; lovely homely atmosphere, chatty barman and varied menu. Starter of whitebait was a good size and came with a very nice side salad. Main courses of chicken in mushroom sauce was tender and obviously freshly prepared. The chef was willing to adapt the dish to cater for our specific... More
