Description: In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs...
In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs sits a gem of an inn, The Honest Miller. This village inn, built in 1609, was for many years a meeting place for countrymen out pigeon shooting and hare coursing. It was also where the local hunt would meet, waiting on horseback to receive their mulled wine and spirits.Today, in this historic atmosphere, the attractions are a little different. Sit in the beautiful old English beer garden sipping quality real ale, or enjoy a ploughman’s lunch among the free range chickens. The beer garden is ideal for children, with a resident Shetland pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and ducks.Inside, the inn oozes charm, with an open log fire and friendly welcome. It’s a romantic spot for couples to enjoy a candlelit dinner. Walkers and cyclists are also valued customers, along with their dogs. The kitchen is the hearts of this place – you need look no further for a superior home-made meal. Melt-in-the-mouth Romney Marsh lamb shanks, slow roasted and served with leek and rosemary gravy are just one of the delights on offer. Start with roasted butternut & vegetable soup, or creamy goat’s cheese with roasted peppers. Try our rack of Pork belly ribs with hickory barbecue sauce and homemade chips or Haddock with a mature cheddar & herb crumble topping. Desserts include Italian tiramisu, with Madeira and mascarpone, apple blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.

Good food but very long wait between courses. 25 minutes wait after we asked for our sweets. The staff put us in a corner then seam to forget us.

The new Landlords Gareth and Lisa are giving the Miller the new lease of life it needs. Full house with great entertainment. Gareth's food was excellent and he made a point of getting to know his new clientele. I think the Miller is now going places.

This used to be a great pub but since it has changed hands a couple of times in the last year it has gone down in my estimation. There was 1 ale on draught when I went in which turned out not to be working, and then, there was no bottled ale either! Also the barmaid was carrying round a... More

Last went here around 2 years ago so thought we'd go again tonight. The pub was clean, tidy & looks much better than on my last visit. Unfortunately they had a problem with the gas to the pumps so we could only have bottled drinks or bitter. The Menu was ok but perhaps some chicken options could be added? The... More

Enjoyable meal with nice door area and pet corner for the children to enjoy. The food was served promptly but was a little plain.

We revisited The Honest Miller to sample the spring menu and boy are we glad we did. If you like fish you must try the pan fried salmon with veggies and a creamy sauce. It had to have been one of the best dishes I've had recently if not ever. Again the host/co-owner was more than friendly and even asked... More

We choose the Honest Miller for a special anniversary meal and weren't disappointed. The pub is in a great location within the picturesque village of Brook. Inside, the decor is minimal but brings the outdoors in. When entering the pub we were informed that food didn't start for another 45 mins but the bartender said he would ask the chef... More

Staff seemed very determined to ensure we had a very pleasant meal, treating us as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. They were very happy to meet special dietary needs (which they had not been pre warned about). Food was great and the service speedy and attentive.

I know it was a busy Mothering Sunday and we were prepared for a bit of give and take. Earlier in the week on booking we had been told that the table would not be free until 3 pm but we did not actually get served until 4.30 - and the roast beef and roast potatoes had run out. By... More

We are extremely disappointed your visit was not up to our usual high standard. We endeavour to ensure each customer is well looked after. As we continue to grow we are indeed looking to increase our work force to meet the demand. I can only apologise that the dish of your choice had sold out upon ordering. It can be... More
