This restaurant looked charming, and when we booked reservations, for the next day, much was made by the staff about the slim possibility of "getting in", but finally, we were "squeezed" in, as the last table for the following night. Wow! With anticipation, we arrived, complete with good appetite after a long day's hike in the Peak district, and appropriate... More

Dinner for two on 24 August. My starter was really quite good (onion & brie tarte tatin) but the main was a staggering disappointment. I ordered the venison and it arrived piled high with sauteed mushrooms, along with a stack of mange-touts, and sauteed potatoes. The sauce was bland and watery and the venison was tasteless and tough (likely frozen).... More

We visited this place on our 4 year anniversary, it has a beautiful decor, we didnt sample the food but the menu looked good the choice of ales was really good and my wife said the cocktails were to die for, the best thing about this family run business was the service, the owners were a lovely couple, and there... We arrived quite late (around 9pm) and, I think, walked in as they were having some issues with service. They seemed a bit flustered and apologised repeatedly for making us wait to the point that we were served by one of the chefs at the bar. We'd only been there a couple of minutes so no apology was needed! We... More

Don't bother going to France for your summer holiday. Just come here instead. The food tastes just like that in a good provincial French bistro (away from the tourist rubbish). Great service from friendly staff (unlike being in France!). Really helpful. Good decor in a cute little basement. The display of cakes on the side looked good. I might go... More

A lovely little place with an authentic French menu and good value for money. It's really nice to have such an authentic range of dishes without ponciness! Definitely recommended for a hearty, tasty meal that's out of the ordinary and doesn't cost a packet.

Amazing food, could have been actually in France, good service and very reasonable, but quality came first. Chef really good.

A quick dinner, early evening with 2 families. Lovely food. Great french authenticity on the menu. Nice staff. Great selection of bottled beers! Each meal was tasty and what we ordered. We would definitely recommend.
