Jolly, late breakfast

Hi, Back in Hay visiting the daughter.Seven of us, all family, three generations traipsed off to Richard Booth's multi purpose set up. It's a bookshop a cinema and a cafe. Went to book a table and were told it would be a wait of forty minutes. No problem we split up and did shopping and book... read more

On a sunny midweek day the place is pretty quiet at 2.30, seated in the garden we enjoyed a light lunch of black bean, sweet potato and tortilla hash with extra chorizo, good coffee and flapjack. Only grumble being the small glass of room temp pear juice at £2 :(. Good friendly service. Recommended.

A really interesting place to have an always tasty variety of lunches, as we have been here on a number of occasions & always left really pleased. It just has a certain air about it, with the bookshop & usually some sort of arts related exhibition. Recommend the warm bacon & tomato salad - delicious with a local cider or... More

Quirky place to chill and eat! The staff seemed really friendly and the breakfasts all looked amazing! The rarebit and pancakes are definitely ones to try!!

We have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed. The menu is fresh and interesting. Really good quality produce. Nice, friendly staff. Unhurried. Lovely setting with art work. Clean bathroom and baby changing. Love it.

After a mooch around a fabulous book shop offering a huge range of second hand and new books - what could be better than enjoying some great food in the cafe. The menu is short but fabulous - some favourites with a twist, superbly presented and very tasty. Accompanied by a G&T, or a Chai latte and water infused with... More

Delicious food in nice setting. I had the Welsh rarebit which came with a side salad. My husband had the cheese plate with delicious little oatcakes and a celery and walnut salad and condiments. All very tasty and well presented.

Visited twice during the Hay Festival...once for breakfast and once for lunch. Love the design, the outdoor courtyard and the simple but beautifully presented menu. It is efficiently run with a waiting system during busy times while you browse the book shelves of this great bookshop. The Welsh Rarebit is to die for...I am still thinking about it! Great for... After waiting a while to eat . I was a little let down and dissapointed! The food was fine at best and quite expensive. I was expecting something a little bit different and quirkey instead of something lacking in imagination and something I could have quite easily made at home.

When you go inside, you wish you had more hours in the day to read so many interesting books. The staff are really friendly and helpful. This place inspires you to wander around, you can smell stories.... and you can go to the café too. Wonderful place.
