Best Steak Pie on the Island

My Husband & I regularly visit The Taverners and to be honest we don't even need to look at the menu! Its always our favourite, Steak & Ale Pie, served in suet crust pastry with chips & peas. We were recommended to visit the Taverners, by our hosts, whilst staying in Whitwell last week. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. After ordering our drinks we perused the menu and decided on the local sausages served on a bed of bubble and squeak. It was a good choice as there were two large pork sausages which were succulent... More

Though a bit noisy due to low ceilings, we had an enjoyable evening dining. The menu enabled us to find starters and main meals without a problem. The quality of the food was very good. I enjoyed the cheese and beet root salad which was light. The stuffed rabbit was very good and enjoyable. Very little parking and our driver... More

This is a venue where we know we will meet friends,we were not disappointed , this place is so popular! ! Six of us had delicious food in convivial surroundings. I thought the food here was remarkably good and at very good pub prices. Would recommend anything off the menu, it seems - they have put a lot of thought into what they are serving and from where they are sourcing it. Trying to book to go back.

It was my birthday, so I cried if I wanted to, my husband took me to the Taverners, Godshill, he has a heavy cold one suspects, where tea towels are used as napkins. On arrival we were shown to a table in the window, good job they had double glazing because said table fitted conveniently in the middle of it,... More

Me and my boyfriend visited here in February. The food was good however the menu is rather limited, I'm not a particular fan of Game but that seemed to be most of the menu! The Eton mess did not seem to be home made, looked like squirt cream out of a bottle! However the ham egg and chips I had... More

I first took my parents and sister there for a late afternoon drink when they were over here on one of their mini-breaks. It is such a lovely pub, so we decided to go there for a meal last Friday evening - we had the sense to book, which I strongly advise given its understandable popularity. All of our meals... More

Great little pub in a pretty village. Two tired babies made finding food fairly important and luckily we came across the Taverners. Although the back eating area was pretty chilly on a sunny winters day the food and fire helped make the lunch extremely enjoyable. A special mention must go to the children's menu as their food was every bit... More

Have been here a few times in the last few years and it never stops amazing me! The food is fresh, consistent, well presented and truly delightful! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend! Keep up the great work!
