What a find...Dined here four times in one week, great food, really cannot fault any of the meals, various real ales on offer, small quality wine selection, and prices were if I,m honest, very fair. The food is way above your Average "Pub Food" Category, all locally sourced or grown locally(see the food charts on the premises). The staff (and... More

A lovely place to spend a relaxing couple of hours. Great food as well. Very impressed and will certainly be returning there when we next visit IOW.

Visited with a colleague - the baked cheese croquettes, the crab dip and the scotch egg were great starters. The partridge was incredible, really nice flavours and glad the waitress helped me decide between that and the ox cheek. Love the little shop, nice ambiance and good service. Only quibble would be the lack of local beers on tap or... More

We visited the Taverners because we wanted a gastro pub for Sunday dinner. Dogs are welcome inside and in the lovely garden and as it was a nice day we grabbed a spit outside. It was only 1pm and they had already run out of roast beef, so instead we opted for the partridge. Delicious! We did have to wait... More

I was really looking forward to some great food after reading all the reviews. However, I was very disappointed. Poor quality steak. Very small fish portion that was very bland. No bread served to accompany the meal. One good thing was the chips. Overall a disappointing experience.

booked here yesterday based on the excellent trip advisor reviews as we live on the mainland and don't know too many restaurants. We really looked forward to a traditional Sunday roast. We were booked for 1pm - shortly after they opened - and were shown straight to the table and were given the menus. It didnt take long to choose... More

There are loads of places we love to go to eat on the Isle of Wight but the Taverners remains our favourite of all. It is a pub where the quality of the food and interesting dishes stand out, rather than plenty of others where vastness of portions seems to be more important. Nothing wrong with that, but we prefer... More

Has become one of our favourite eating places on the island when we come to visit family. Their philosophy in respect of food and service is as good as anywhere on the island, and many other establishments who think themselves more up market could learn a thing or to from here. The food is both fresh, vibrant and quite local,... More
