My partner and I visited The Taveners for Sunday lunch over the Bank Holiday. The pub is nicely located in the centre of Godshill and the reviews were excellent so we booked for an early lunch. The roast dinner was nicely presented and sourced from local ingredients, which made a refreshing change. They advised that the beef was served pink,... More

We stumbled upon this fantastic establishment whilst searching for a beer garden, where our 3 year old could run off a bit of energy. At the back, not only did they have tables in the sun, there was a bowls court, playground and vegetable garden! After doing a bit of reading we realised that the owners of this pub were... More

We enjoyed a great meal here, recommended by our B&B and the recommendation was thoroughly well deserved. The menu is varied and full but without being too lengthy. There were lots of options that we could have eaten and we found it difficult to choose (always a good sign!). The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed... More

This was a return visit (last visit 2012, when we found the service chaotic). This time it was much more organised. The welcome was good and the table was ready for us this time. Initial service was efficient, but they did seem to forget about us once the starters were served. We had to wait an unacceptable amount of time... More

I'm a local and enjoy walking to this pub from Shanklin (through the woods, cycle tracks, farmland). Nothing beats the locally sourced, beautifully rare, roast beef followed by apple crumble and fresh vanilla custard. I lived in west London for 12 years and in my opinion the food here is as good, if not better, than Gordon Ramsay's Foxtrot Oscar... More

We booked a table for 4 people but extended this to 7 which was no problem to the pub. The place was very busy when we arrived but despite this, had a relaxed atmosphere. We had a great meal, good size portions and a very good selection. Most of us opted for the home made puddings too! Good value for... More
