Our second visit to Folkestone this year, and we made a beeline for the Guildhall. Very friendly and welcoming landlord / lady. BUT they say that they are retiring in March 2015. Excellent real ales. Delicious home-cooked meals. Proper steak and ale pie, with lovely pastry top cooked fresh. Option of added mushrooms, or kidneys. Hidden away in Old Folkestone;... More

Traditional pub with delicious food cooked to order. Comfortable place to relax with friends. Family who run the pub are very welcoming. Beers on tap including Harveys and Nightmare Porter. Seating outside for sunny days. Just a minute's walk from the top of the Old High Street and all the bustle. Give yourself a quiet break.

It serves Harvey's Best - enough said! We didn't eat here, but if you want a quiet drink not far from the Old Town, this is ideal.

Great welcome and a lovely pub to sit outside in the warm weather. Good selection of ales and cider. A bit away from the main town pubs, close to a pretty churchyard.....felt like we were in a country pub. Fresh fish on the menu but I didn't try. Looked fantastic though. Sunday lunch was superb, great portions.

Went here twice on a recent trip to Folkestone. First time Sunday lunch - I made the wrong choice with roast beef - I should have known they have to cater for everyone and for me it was a bit like school dinners but the servce and welcome was so warm I would happily go there and order it again,... Difficult to find without a map, but well worth it. Friendly and obliging host/ess. Quiet traditional pub. Excellent food. 3 courses, 4 pints, £45 for 2 of us. Fish and chips to die for. Local catch of the day, fried WITHOUT batter, so that you can actually taste the fish. A nice touch was that the sachets of sauce /... More

I've just come back from a meal and drinks with my bezzie. Totally amazed by this place. The road was really busy for parking, but the landlord moved the patio furniture so I could park on a section of the pubs land! They are both really friendly. The drinks are good quality and low priced. I would say this for... More

Stumbled across this pub by accident and couldn't fault it. Returned several times. Food is fabulous and very reasonably priced. It good old fashioned friendly service in a good old fashioned pub serving the most scrumptious grub. I'd happily eat here over the many posh spots I've been to that charge treble for a chewy piece of meat. This place... More

We've been to the Guildhall each time we visit family newly moved to Folkestone. It's a friendly pub, obviously treasured by local residents. It hasn't yet been touristified - probably to its economic detriment - but is a relaxing place to have a drink and bar snack. There is outside seating, which could probably do with being upgraded to make... More
