While on holiday in Folkestone my husband and I booked to have a meal at La Tavernetta on the 10th September. We could not have enjoyed our meal more. We were made to feel welcome by the staff as soon as we arrived. I had Sea Bass and my husband had Duck both were cooked to perfection as were the... More

Our kids are growing up fast and whilst they love the usual fast food they also love the formality and choice of a good restaurant. With two boys turning 12 and 9 just a day apart we decided to visit The Tavernetta, having not been the for at least 12/13 years. You instantly know when you walk into a family... More

Arrived at 9.30pm Tuesday evening. Some people in the restaurant, lights on, and board still outside. Asked (with a smile) for a table for 2, only to be told “Too late lady; kitchen’s closed”. Not a “sorry” or apology in sight. Have been wanting to try this place for a while, thanks to good feedback from some neighbours & friends,... More

We have recently moved to Folkestone and we were looking for somewhere to have lunch to escape the building work at home; we couldn't have a found a better authentic place if we had tried. They were just opening but showed us to a table bought us a high chair and menus. The food was freshly cooked and gorgeous and... More

We visited as a family of 2 adults & 3 children. From the moment we arrived they were extremely welcoming & accommodating of the children, assisting us in with the buggy. When we had ordered they brought some complimentary breadsticks over for the children-obviously spotting that the baby was getting a little fractious! We went on to order-it was a... More

Living in Folkestone we has some nostalgic memory of La Tavernetta. SO when we had a special family occasion that warranted a special meal, we booked and felt we were in safe hands. OMG!!!!! what a mistake and a costly one at that. The food was poor! We had all ordered different dishes but 2 of the 3 steak were... More

We were on holiday, looking forward to a relaxing meal. The service was curt from the moment we entered. Perhaps they didn't like that we ordered house wine. And chose from the set menu. We did get one smile as the main-course plates were collected. We said we'd like dessert; nothing was offered. We waited about ten minutes, and decided... More

As a long time resident of Folkestone I'm ashamed to say this was my first visit to the Tavernetta. The welcome was lovely, the food was excellent and the atmosphere is spot on. No complaints other than leaving feeling very over-fed, great.

Beef stroganoff - proper lean well seasoned beef strips with onions and mushrooms in a creamy stroganoff sauce with rice, delicious. Strawberry rhoulard (home made) melted in the mouth. Attentive service and clearly very popular judging by the number of people coming in. ANC they cook till late. Recommended by a local and I'm glad I asked him for a... More
