I have always had a Campari and soda before dinner. In most restaurants they know that it is served as a 50 ml measure, lots of ice and a slice of orange (never lemon as the drink is bitter already). Arriving at Eric's I ordered the usual, but it was served looking pale - the Campari had hardly coloured the... More

i live locally and have wanted to visit Eric's for some time. Gift vouchers as a leaving present gave me the prompt to get on with it and give Eric's a go. We went on a Thursday night hoping it would be a bit quieter and went for the early menu. I was wrong about it being quiet however with... More

I went here for the mediterranean evening. Every single dish was superb. I didn't even think I liked Pollenta until I tasted Erics version.

This restaurant is dependable, when we're seeking quality and consistency, in an area of the West Yorkshire not specifically renowned for culinary excellence, this is a beacon. It was six months since our last visit and our family party of three opted for the two-course special. The starter of deep fried halloumi was cooked to perfection and the accompanying sauce... More

Erics is where you go for a special occasion, we have been three times before, it is the first time I experienced fine dining, this is not pretentious, you hear on TV about textures, flavours, etc and I had this experience. However on this occasion it seemed that Erics was catering for a more mass market. Great for business but... More

Back in Huddersfield and Erics and pleased to find that the food has maintained standards. Was as busy as last visit but most seemed in for an early lunch so soon quietened down. Lunch for me was pork confit salad followed by mushroom ravioli. Others at our table had a delicious sea trout and chicken both of which were also... More

Am I the only foody in the area not to have visited Erics until this week? I guess I might be. A busy lunchtime requires extra staff; they were there and extremely polite and efficient individuals they were too. We ate off the the a la carte menu with superb results. Succulent pigeon breast for my colleague and a beautiful... More

Eric's had been recommended to me by several friends so three of us decided to pay a visit. We went for the Early bird menu which is served until 7.00 pm. This was two courses for £20. The choices were interesting and I chose a tandoori chicken starter, which was beautifully presented with excellent flavours. My two companions chose chicken... More

Hi David

We are also fans of Erics but the seating for us has also been an issue and spoilt our overall dining experience so much so that we haven't returned since August 2014.

The table you were seated at was actually the same as we allocated on our last visit and we mentioned in our previous review of Erics that this was badly located and also unsafe. We received a somewhat petulant response from Eric two months later only saying quote " That I might like to know that this table had been removed!" which we thought was rather a childish response and certainly very unprofessional. There was no reference at all to our disappointment and was sent as a private response so other readers of the reviews didn't have sight of it. In fact most criticism that Erics receives is usually responded by the same tantrum type reply rather than actually accepting the constructive criticism and dealing with it in a grown up and professional manner.

We are not surprised that you didn't bring your disappointment to the attention of staff because we are sure that their response and subsequent action would have been very positive but we would have been concerned that this would have been followed up by a tirade of anger from Eric. Without doubt the food here is good, the venue is lovely but it will take a lot to make us change our opinion that the customer is really that important to Eric, he is too far up his ivory tower to accept that others (and his customers at that), might have a correct and differing opinion to his.
