Nice place for a treat

Came here for a romantic date night. Was taken upstairs and it was heaving and extremely noisy - there was a big party on. Asked to be seated downstairs which was lovely and peaceful. Waited quite a while to be seated and to order but I imagine they were busy with the big group upstairs. We were... read more

This was the third time we have dined at Erics, all three times on a Sunday. We decided to book for Father’s Day to treat my Dad and Mum so the 4 of us were booked in for 2pm. After ordering drinks in the bar we were seated within 5 minutes, when seated menus passed round and there were some... More

Visited 26/6 for lunch with my mother and sister, started with three strawberry and honey Bellini's just to quench the thirst and it worked a treat... My starter was pigeon breasts cooked to perfection, followed by the rump steak (rare) should have asked for blu but you live and learn and I think the cooking juices used were a little... More

Last night a group of 5 of us visited Erics in order to celebrate a retirement in the family. Having visited a couple of times previously myself, and being highly impressed, I expected nothing but the best from the evening. I wasn't disappointed. On arrival we were prompted to order cocktails whilst our table was prepared, all of which were... More

Me and my friend came here for the Wimbledon afternoon tea today and was really looking forward to it as it was supposed to be a treat for me. How disappointing when it came on a plate instead of the tiered cake stand even though everyone else seemed to have the stand. When I asked I was told that they... More

Another delicious lunch at Eric's. I had chicken salad and then a sublime blueberry cheesecake. Very attentive service and our waiter had impeccable manners. Always a joy to eat there.

We visited Eric's (again), for a Father's Day afternoon tea, and we were not disappointed. It was a rather manly affair, with a couple of tasty sandwiches (egg mayo and very rare roast beef), teamed with ham hock, scotch egg (black pudding and quail egg stylie) and chunky battered cod. Oh, I almost forgot the smoked salmon and cream cheese... More

We were a group 10 plus 1 child dining on fathers day for lunch. We were all new to this restaurant as none of us had eaten here before. The restaurant is quite quaint & we were greeted by friendly staff. We were shown to our table upstairs straight away. We were left to chat after the waiter had taken... More

This is the second visit. On both occasions the food has been superb and the service spot on. The early evening menu is not only good value but of very high standard. We went for the sharing plate for puddings - the picture shows the attractive presentation

The food is fine dining and perfect for a treat. The head waiter is superb, however, we had the new boy today. The only other downside was the lack of a dessert that we were inclined to order. Disappointing for a desert feind.

Hi David

We are also fans of Erics but the seating for us has also been an issue and spoilt our overall dining experience so much so that we haven't returned since August 2014.

The table you were seated at was actually the same as we allocated on our last visit and we mentioned in our previous review of Erics that this was badly located and also unsafe. We received a somewhat petulant response from Eric two months later only saying quote " That I might like to know that this table had been removed!" which we thought was rather a childish response and certainly very unprofessional. There was no reference at all to our disappointment and was sent as a private response so other readers of the reviews didn't have sight of it. In fact most criticism that Erics receives is usually responded by the same tantrum type reply rather than actually accepting the constructive criticism and dealing with it in a grown up and professional manner.

We are not surprised that you didn't bring your disappointment to the attention of staff because we are sure that their response and subsequent action would have been very positive but we would have been concerned that this would have been followed up by a tirade of anger from Eric. Without doubt the food here is good, the venue is lovely but it will take a lot to make us change our opinion that the customer is really that important to Eric, he is too far up his ivory tower to accept that others (and his customers at that), might have a correct and differing opinion to his.
