Friendly pub under new management. Lovely half of Cotleigh Tawny

We have been going to the Smugglers on and off for fifteen years originally being one or our favourite places, but lately found the branding unattractive and food overpriced and "arty" for the location. Visited during a walk for refreshment and found the pub had just reopened (half an hour ago... read more

Pretty empty on a Wednesday lunch time, even so the landlord was hassling his two staff, one of whom was obviously very new to the job, to the point they were running around in disarray. Not a good manager. His two staff were both friendly and attentive but not overly so. There was a decent array of beers which were... More

Phoned on 11th July after reading a review here. Really polite chap explained the issue with the license and said they will be opening on the 21st. We look forward to returning soon after and wish you good luck with you re-opening !

Friendly pub. Dogs are welcome. Menu had lots of choice. Food was really lovely. We enjoyed our evening here and would return if we are ever that way again.

The evening we went there they couldn't serve alcohol due to an issue with the license, I'm sure this will be a temporary issue. The menu was limited, but the food was nice. It's got a large garden, with lots of plants and flowers, and a nice little fish pond.

The beer garden is lovely with a large fish pond full of them! We just drank the local beer and cider and did not manage to have a meal - certainly on our list again to visit next time.

Stopped off for a pint mid afternoon on a Saturday. Not much choice of ales so had a lager. Staff friendly enough. Big garden.

We popped in for desert after a disappointing main course at another pub. We got there ten minutes before they stopped serving food, but after checking with the kitchen they were happy for us to order. Absolutely delicious chocolate fudge cake and ginger flavoured bakewell tart. Loved the décor too.

Looking forward to a holiday in Blue Anchor bay, we were pleased to read good reviews and were not disappointed. (It was closed on the evening of Father's Day for some reason) However, later in the week we enjoyed a good meal at a fair price, pleasant and helpful service and a good atmosphere amongst the guests. One can imagine... More
