Sunday lunch

Was escaping from Butlins minehead for a few hours. Came across this place and was very impressed with the welcome and the excellent food. Will visit again when in the area.

Viisited Smugglers Inn over Whitsun with family while staying at Blue Anchor Bay. First impressions were not great, you have to walk through the bar to get to the restaurant, which was being used by locals who did not seem over friendly! The restaurant part itself was nice and quite modern compared to the bar. The food was nice, hot... More

We were staying at the caravan site next door to the Smugglers. I was quite surprised that the pub was closed on a Sunday evening and also all day Monday in May.As we were only staying for three nights we decided that we would visit the Smugglers on Tuesday evening prior to our departure on Wednesday morning. We arrived at... More

Not very friendly or welcoming, the outside looks a little run down and if we had known of another place to go we probably wouldn't have stayed. When we got to the dining area however, this area looked very good and clean. Signage was not good to find your way to the restaurant, which is actually on the lower ground... More

I'm pleased we went here today. We used to visit regularly but weren't so keen on the couple who had been running it so stayed away for a while, only returning because our 8 year old chose it for her birthday meal. Turns out the couple have gone and Simons friend is running it. His friend is lovely- fantastic service... More

We had the Mac & Cheese (with chicken and bacon) from the specials board. It was delicious, good size portion and very filling! (The oreo cheesecake is also yum). Dogs are allowed, the staff were very friendly and our dog was also happy as he got fed some biscuits and fresh water :)

As we were at the nearby caravan site, decided to go out for a family meal at the nearby smugglers inn in walking distance. Went into the bar to have a drink before ordering food. Ordered five drinks, three beers, a bottle of lager, and a fruit juice and was charged £19. I queried this and the barman didn't seem... More

Visited the Smugglers today and had a really good steak and otter pie, and a burger, a little rough round the edges, but to be fair this is a pub restaurant in Blue Anchor and what it may lack in fancy trimmings it more than makes up for in the atmosphere and the convivial host, really enjoyed the visit.
