This thatched gem of a pub was taken over in November 2009 having been closed for 7 months. Now it is a real local pub with Cask Marque ales and a fantastic British menu. There is a bar, restaurant and private dining room offering a lovely friendly atmoshpere and really good food that is great value for money. There is plenty of outside seating for sunny days so come along and try us again.

excellent range of food to choose from. I was spoiled for choice. Delicious starter of prawns and crab - one of the nicest I have ever tasted. A huge portion. The fish and chips were divine. Lovely tasty crisp batter. very busy in the pub area - but we ate in the restaurant. Nice spacious restaurant where you can have... More

Have now dined here twice. Friendly reception, good food and gluten free menu available. Only drawback is price - average about £25 for 2 courses and a single drink (service not included).

We booked a Sunday lunchtime table for five. Our big consideration is that one of our party is gluten and what free. This caused no trouble as they have a separate menu but it would be considerate to mention when booking. We consisted of three generations which I guess is hard to please!! They were most friendly from the beginning... More

We booked a table at the Red house as a special family gathering as it had been recommended to us by friends. We reserved a table later on in the afternoon as it was fully booked at lunch time. When we arrived, there was still going to be a wait so they upgraded us to there dining room so we... More

Visited last on a quiet mid week night to celebrate a special occasion. Even though we were only 1 of 3 couples eating there the ambiance was very friendly and relaxing. The barman/manager was very warm and made us feel welcome. The food was superb esp. the crab starter. We got chatting to the barman and he kindly bestowed us... More

We booked in advance for afternoon tea. We were greeted by name before we spoke to anyone, a nice touch. We requested a high chair, I would recommend the red house update their high chairs. They are old and and may be ok for babies but not for small children. Most places now manage to provide chairs so that children... More

Needed a place that was local and catered for gluten free on a Sunday night. Decided to give the Red House a try. With the evening deals, great food and service we will be coming back. Oh and found out that they are dog freindly so even better next time we can take the dog!
