Work in progress, l hope!

Having lived in the Newbury area some 22 years ago, we always enjoy going back to visit old haunts - this is our second trip to The Winterbourne Arms in 8 months. I hope the new owner will take this as positive criticism...on arrival l felt very sad to see the state of the hanging baskets, window... read more

This was a Trip Advisor search, looking for a pub lunch before a matinee show at the Watermill Theatre. The pub is tucked away down a small village road but was a delightful find and we would happily go back. First impression - the pub smelt like a pub. It was clean and welcoming but nonetheless smelt like a place... More

The standard of food was excellent (albeit the vegetables were a little too al dente) and service first class but prices are on the high side for pub meals

After a morning visit to Highclere Castle, it was just far enough to escape the lunchtime location price hikes. Very warm welcome and table duly as booked. The menu was rather limited and although it was only 13.20, even more restricted by some meals not available. The food came at the right time to suggest everything is cooked fresh. The... More

Never fail to have a good meal here. Friendly staff, great shortcrust pies and Sunday roasts. Love it.

The location of this pub is lovely, in a pretty village with nice walks nearby. We stopped by for a drink on a sunny day and unsurprisingly they were very busy. We didn't plan to eat but the menu looked great so we had a couple of small dishes which were delicious. They have a lovely garden at the front... More

The food and beer/wine selection was very average. The service was rude and slow. We waited 55 minutes for chicken and salad. The bar staff were distracted and impolite. I have no problem with some items on the menu not being available but I don't need this barked at me aggressively before I've even started to order and I'm happy... More

Broke our journey to Bath here and had Sunday lunch. Ring before you rock up because all the tables were taken. Despite this, we were squeezed into the warm, welcoming womb of this delightful gastro pub.. There is plenty of choice on the menu but the roast dinner is obviously the star of the show! Puddings are plentiful and the... More

Met some friends here on the Saturday before Mother's Day and glad we booked! Although it was busy we got excellent personal service at the bar and when our friends arrived with their baby, they did all they could to help make them comfortable. Loved the decor, very outdoorsy and typical country pub, but the food was by far better... More

Located a little way out of Newbury northward towards Wantage visited on a number of occasions with extended family and never been disappointed. Warm welcome, cosy pub and great value Sunday lunches all washed down with a pint or two of Ramsbury's finest! Great value too worth the detour out of town!
