We spent bank holiday Sunday at the Newbury listening to KOTG house music and drinking cosmopolitans it was fantastic. The roof top terrace is a revelation and a sun trap, as soon as it cools down the roof is conveniently covered. We had the roast with a selection of beef, pork and chicken, the beef is cleverly cooked for hours... More

Food is good and no doubt about it. Although a bit expensive. Really like the burger but was still hungry at the end of it. Service was basic although I had to stand near the bar for quite a while just to be acknowledged.

Service was a bit slow. Three of us had cooked Crab. It looked wonderful but came with useless utensils and we had great difficulty getting any meat out. The rest of the food was OK but the staff could see we were struggling with the crab but did nothing to help.

I recently had lunch here. It was very quiet, yet the service was very rushed. As soon as I finished my last chip, they came to clear the table and ask if we wanted the bill. It felt as if they wanted us away from the window seat as quickly as possible. We did tell them at the beginning we... More

Well didn't really like it. Bad try hard decor. Staff and waitresses were a bit distant. Bad arrangement of furniture , tables too large and not enough space to sit. It's the kinda place you walk past it looks great from the outside then you get in and turn around and walk out because there is nowhere to sit for... More

Thank for taking the time to review our establishment and l am sorry you didn't enjoy your visit on this occasion. Regarding the decor, obviously decisions have been made and style has been chosen, it won't be to everyones taste but just as you didn't like it, we also get a great number of people compliment us on our interior... Visited 18th April after a perfect visit last year only to find the "love" has gone from the food and the service. Was bought part cooked mussels and told they were fine (yeah right) Was forgotten about when asked if we would like more drinks with our meal, this took a good 20 mins to appear after we got up... One of my favourite places to visit in Newbury the food never disappoints and is always fresh and home made. The beer selection is good and well kept and the wine choice is good and again well presented. All this in very comfortable surroundings especially the roof terrace!

Had great meals here and poor ones. Had great and terrible service. It's a pity that there doesn't seem to be any consistency. Having said that, the bar and especially the cocktails are excellent. Good atmosphere on a Friday night and is probably the best bar in the town.

A big, smart gastropub. We only popped in for a drink and there was little table seating for drinkers, but people on bar stools blocking the bar! This made service needlessly difficult and sends a message of you are not really welcome unless you are eating. Beer prices high.
