Yes it's our local, but we don't drink there, always eat! The bar is nonetheless always buzzing; great for a beer or a glass of wine before you sit down. We entertain clients and suppliers and it's our chosen venue. Keep trying to think of somewhere different, but the Newbury always hits the mark. We've never had poor service; the... More

Very friendly atmosphere in the middle of Newbury. The food was excellent and a good place to visit before the cinema or theatre.

This is my local and I go there often. Good food (more vegetarian options would be nice) and usually consistent in terms of quality and presentation. The bar is good and serve proper pints and cocktails. All in all a very good gastro pub.

I have been to The Newbury on a number of occasions for dinner but this occasion was a midweek drink with friends . Both friends got drinks from the bar and both commented on how rude the barman was. I wanted to order a bar snack (sweet potatoes with blue cheese dip) but found the menu had changed. I fully... More

Booked online at 2:30pm for 7pm that evening. Turned up to a surprised look of them not knowing, even after they asked to see the confirmation email. Had to wait 30mins until seated as they had too many 'tickets' (there were 3 tables totalling 14 people in the restaurant, ~1/3 full). Once seated given menu that was not the same... More

I booked the Newbury for a group of 8 on Sunday with high expectations, and was not disappointed. I live in Newbury and have eaten here before, but this was even better than usual. The quality of the food was fantastic - roast beef and roast pork, and the service as ever was friendly and efficient. Great day out and... More

2nd visit and still very impressive. Its great to have a restaurant that doesn't just dish out the standard pub grub it's quite an innovative menu with new dishes to try. The service was very good, very attentive without being oppresive. Its not the cheapest place but if you want quality you have to pay for this, and I think... More

I have had lunch twice recently at The Newbury and have to compliment them, the venue is lovely, the food is delicious and good value on the lunch menu - the paintings round the room for sale, always leave me very tempted... the only downside is the accoustics! When you are sat having lunch, it is very difficult to chat... More

I live a mile away from The Newbury and it has become my default "local". The food is absolutely great and really well priced, the wine list interesting and accessibly priced, last night I had a lovely Malbec at £21 a bottle. I have eaten lunch, dinner and brunch here over the past 18 months, probably visiting on average once... More

A really great place! You can have a drink at the bar side and a meal on the far side away from all the noise! There is a great atmosphere, happy and chatty, and the staff are really welcoming and helpful. The tables are well spaced out so you don't feel crowded and it was really busy the night we... More
