lunchtime treat

Wonderful food, a little overpriced. Great service too. The roof is too low which means that noise levels are very high and you have a job talking. It appears that everyone is shouting.

We had heard great things about The Newbury being the best food in Newbury - I hope not!!! A real disappointment, dirty wine glass, wine not chilled properly, dance music on too loud (was turned down after a while), very average food, not worth the price. Probably more suited to a young professionals hangout for the cocktail terrace than a... More

A really pleasant atmosphere, clearly well liked by the number of customers. We were immediately welcomed and had the task of selecting from a varied but fish favoured menu. The cod I had was melt in the mouth lovely. Do try the deserts too! We were well looked after throughout the meal - great menu - go and try it... More

we booked a table at short notice for Sunday lunch as we had heard nothing but praise for the food here. We weren't disappointed, on arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming, we were able to choose our table as we booked at the end of the busy lunch time rush, the menu was very moorish but we decided to... Visiting family in Newbury we decided to eat here, which was a really good choice. Great service, excellent food - the hot crab is superb, good wines and atmosphere. Can be a bit noisy when busy, we were there on a race weekend and it was almost too loud. My only gripe, having ordered the crab I had to ask... More

What a shame! We had heard good things about The Newbury. Inside is really nice, decor etc. The staff where great, the food on the another hand was awful!!! I can't work out if you are going to serve crab linguine why you would cut it up? It's not a child's meal! It was tasteless. I don't want to go... More

I have never been so embarrassed in front of my friends and all down to a very rude waiter in The Newbury! My friends and I had just finished a lovely meal at another place in town and decided to go have some cocktails.....wish we hadn't bothered. We went up to the roof terrace...we were treated by a lovely young... More
