Popped in on Saturday for a drink and some chips. Venue was lovely, and staff very friendly. They seemed short on staff. The bar was left unmanned for quite some time and we had to leave after an hour without our chips.

Just spent 2 days on a training course hosted at the Newbury. Simply the best buffet lunches I have ever experienced. The dinner even when catering for a full venue was oustanding. The staff at the site were warm welcoming courteous and had a passion for their jobs that I havent seen in a long time. The service delivered was... More

Came in on a whim, they had clearly had a busy night as there were to large tables set however there was no issue when we asked for a table at around half 9. Had the chicken and ham pie for two, a large dish that was definitely worth the £27.00 charge (the ceramic blackbird in the centre was a... More

Great place for a drink, good atmosphere and lively, youngish crowd. Food is nothing special however and fairly expensive for what it is - good choice of beers but needs more choice of good real ales rather than lager and Czech beers.

We went to the Newbury for our Xmas lunch. What a great disappointment, the beef was not cooked, fatty and really tough. To think that we had to pay an extra 12 quid on top of the 31 pounds for 3 courses was a total ripoff. Never going back to this place again. Beware !

We went to the Newbury at New Years Eve. They had a ticketed event advertising live music across two floors with buffet and glass of Prosecco. We went very early and the place was empty (as we should have expected!!). It soon filled up however and the atmosphere built. We stayed upstairs listening to two good acoustic sets. We saw... More

The Newbury delivered a really fantastic Christmas day experience for our family party of 14, from the moment we arrived to the time we left the staff worked tirelessly to ensure the day went smoothly, the food was outstanding and plenty of it. There had obviously been a great deal of preparation behind the scenes in organising the event, every... More

Went for lunch at the Newbury based on a recommendation from friends who tend to be quite picky about where they recommend. The pub/restaurant was very busy so best to book if you wish to eat. The bar area is very welcoming with a lovely open space with a real fire. The restaurant area is separate to the right. The... More

We ate here on NYE lunch as a foursome. Had a lovely meal...service was quick and friendly, the chef even came out to ask if our meals were all ok!!! The food was fabulous and all 4 of us thought that! Only critic would be that our reservation hadn't been processed via bookatabel even though my friend had had a... More

What a find! Staying in Newbury for a couple of days and went to this excellent gastro pub for dinner. Wonderful food, keen enthusiastic staff, great ambience. Fantastic attention to detail. Great for a drink and bar snack too. Books to browse, board games to play. They've thought if everything. Well done the Newbury! A world apart from our dreary... More
