Good grub

We had a lovely lunch.... I love fish and there was a good selection, my mum tucked into gourmet burger. Relaxing atmosphere, accommodating staff.

Overall, it's a nice place with good service, working WiFi, terrace etc. But unfortunately, the rib-eye steak I had was not as good, especially considering the price tag. There was nothing apparently wrong with it - it just didn't taste even close like a 30 pound steak should. I'd rather spend 10 pounds on a curry next time.

Three of us visited Thursday lunchtime. We have been here many many times in the past although admittedly not recently. It was unexpectedly quiet - we were the first table in and only 2 others came in after us. Despite it being so quiet service was painfully slow. We were seated straight away but after waiting for 25 minutes for... More

We've visited The Newbury several times, and been delighted. This time my asparagus starter was undercooked and the rabbit paella was rather harsh and glutinous. My wife's plaice was fine. But everything else was the usual very high standard - especially the service. We will go back....

Visited The Newbury Pub on Saturday evening and again on the Sunday. Great looking place with good food and friendly staff. The cocktail bar and roof terrace upstairs is a real winner. By far, the coolest pub in town.

I have been here several times with work, friends and couples and I have always had a great time. The brioche burger is fantastic. Great atmosphere and love the outside area upstairs.

Hubby and I visited The Newbury for lunch on Saturday. Hubby had the chicken sandwich with Newbury chips, this was such a good choice, very filling and reasonably priced! I had a chorizo and sundried tomato open sandwich with side salad, both were delicious, and just as filling, I couldn't eat it all. Must have been the doorstop wedge of... More

Visited The Newbury for the first time with friends. Tables nicely spaced out & it was a nice atmosphere. I would not personally go back as the food was so expensive for what it was. My husband had a rump steak & all it came with was a handful of watercress. This was £25.00 !! If you wanted any sides... More

I have been in here a few time and from when it opened it was brilliant. Now it's going down hill. To be honest the staff don't care they look bored and look like they don't care. Save your money and go else where I will be from down on. It's a shame!

had my first experience of dining in the newbury last night and have to say overall it was a very enjoyable experience with great food and friendly staff and a lively atmosphere my only issue is that for what we had i found it a little expensive £25.00 for sirloin and fries when you can get a decent fillet steak... Thank you very much for your review of our pub. The quality of our meat being grass fed Ruby Red Devon Beef is the reason for the price although we now serve to steaks with Confit Plum Tomato and Horse Mushroom as well as the Newbury Chips. Again the cheeseboard being local and not main stream means we need to... More
